5 جولائی 1977 پاکستان کی جمہوری تاریخ کا وہ سیاہ دن ہے جب عوام کے مینڈیٹ، آئین اور پارلیمانی جمہوریت پر شب خون مارا گیا۔ آمریت نے یہ سمجھا کہ وہ عوام کی آواز دبا دے گی، مگر شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو، شہید محترمہ بینظیر بھٹو اور بے شمار جمہوریت پسند کارکنوں کی قربانیوں نے یہ ثابت کیا کہ حق اور عوامی حاکمیت کو کبھی شکست نہیں دی جا سکتی۔

آج، 49 برس بعد بھی ہمارا عزم وہی ہے کہ آئین کی بالادستی، ووٹ کے تقدس، پارلیمانی جمہوریت اور عوام کے حقِ حکمرانی کا ہر قیمت پر دفاع کریں گے۔ شہداء کی قربانیوں کا حقیقی خراج یہی ہے کہ نفرت اور آمریت کے ہر سایے کو مسترد کرتے ہوئے ایک متحد، جمہوری اور ترقی پسند پاکستان کی تعمیر جاری رکھیں۔
