According to the laws of thermodynamics, information can be converted into energy. An information engine that harnesses environmental memory and exhibits non-Markovian dynamics has now been realized in experiments.

Do you like riddles(and molecular biology)? Maybe you can help me solve this one.
We’ve found a short piece of DNA (plasmid) present in almost all plague samples from the Second Plague Pandemic (1338-1840), but absent in all earlier or later plague cases.

@NimwegenLab Thanks so much for taking the time to answer all of that. really helpful! I'll put it to good use, and I'll let you know if it turns into a paper.
@NimwegenLab Also Is there any way to deal with batch effects before Bonsai, or does the tree just end up splitting by batch first? Last one: since the tree has no root, how do you decide which end is "the beginning" when looking at differentiation? Sorry for the question dump
@NimwegenLab Been playing with Bonsai on my Arabidopsis data and really enjoying it. Couple of things I keep wondering about though – is Cellstates actually changing the tree I get, or is it just there to make things converge faster? And has anyone tried this on plant data yet?
Is euchromatin really “open”? 🧬 Using super-resolution imaging🔬 our new study @NatureGenet reveals: Euchromatin forms condensed domains in live cells. Cohesin constrains them and prevents domain mixing for proper transcriptional insulation🚧 🔗https://t.co/HjjYOjycld (1/2)
