Btw, in Metropolis’ day, this closely synced scoring was referred to as “Meiseling,” in reference to Austrian composer Edmund Meisel, who pioneered the technique. It wasn’t until a few years later and the rise of Disney that the term became “Mickey Mousing.”
In a nutshell: Williams’ new concerto is a gorgeous, haunting, and substantial work that seems to answer the specific focus of his first with the breadth and depth that 5 additional decades in music provides.
Williams looks and moves like a man 15-20 years younger than he is.
Still think back so fondly to my @ScarredPodcast episode and the wonderful conversation with @GaylyDreadful and @mbmcandrews. Perhaps it’s time to re-watch this gem (while listening to the @underscore_show score commentary, of course).
