Last night, our stories shone brightly near the White House to demand @POTUS follow through on his commitment to #FixUI.
If the pandemic has taught us anything, it's that we can't #BuildBackBetter with a broken unemployment system. Watch and share.
If you think a nightmarish, unconstitutional round up of innocent people, merely suspected of being enemies of the state, can’t happen in the U.S., then you’re forgetting that it already has.
I was among them, along with my entire family and community.
Corporations are making tons of money keeping prices high even though their costs have dropped.
That's why corporate profits are higher than they've been since at least 1947.
More than 50 years after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Latinas working full-time, year-round, part-year and part-time are still facing a wage gap. Across industries and sectors, women are not paid equitably for their work.

Our deepest condolences to @WSpriggs’ family and loved ones, may his work continue to inspire us all to fight for economic equality and an end to racism. #restinpower#economicequality
I'm sad to learn that @WSpriggs has passed on. We at @unemployedact and @CPDAction are enormously grateful for the expertise he shared with us. #RestInPower

As climate change reshapes all of our lives, youth organizers are leading the charge to fight for a future where we all have what we need, where the planet and its resources are protected, and where we are all free.
🌍From the Earth Day Action on Saturday⬇️
BREAKING: The Texas Senate just passed a bill that would compel every single public school classroom in the state to display a copy of the Ten Commandments. Additionally, a bill was passed to set aside time during the day for prayer and reading the Bible.
You might be thinking "They can't do that."
You might be thinking "That's unconstitutional."
Well it is, but they did it, despite the fact that a Supreme Court verdict back in 1980, Stone v. Graham, determined that it violated the Establishment Clause of the Constitution when Kentucky tried the exact same thing.
Conservative Republicans have been steadily chipping away at the norms and laws that protect our nation's most vulnerable citizens, like how they did away with crucial segment from the Voting Rights Act, and how they just overturned Roe v Wade.
Laws like this will negatively impact upon students who do not share the same religious beliefs as the majority of students, and could even stigmatize them as lesser members of the student body.
Drop a 💙 if you agree religion must be kept out of our public schools.
NELP applauds the introduction of the Richard L. Trumka PRO Act. The best way to build worker power and good jobs is through union membership, and the #PROAct will remove the unreasonable barriers workers face when trying to join unions. #1u
Georgia is undermining its Unemployment Insurance trust fund so it has an excuse to cut UI benefits even more, so it can force workers to accept low wages & terrible working conditions.
This is why federal action is needed to #FixUI.
ICYMI, this morning the House Ways and Means Committee is marking up a bill on UI fraud that will do more harm than good. It extends the statute of limitations on recouping overpayments when it was a mistake by the state agency to TEN YEARS.
Cutting unemployed benefits --> increases divorce, especially among low-income couples.
"Results confirm the ‘family stress model’ which posits that job search and financial stress cause marital conflict."
Stages of capitalist grief:
(1) If wages go up, we'll replace you all with robots
(2) OK, so we don't actually have the robots
(3) Pleeeease give us child labor again
(4) FINE. We'll invest in efficiency wages, career ladders, and labor saving tech, but we're NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT
