No matter what the bond markets might expect, the working-class are not going to keep paying. At least not without serious consequences for us all.
@UKLabour and @andyburnham must reduce the tax burden on working-class people in the upcoming budget. @SkyNews@joncraig#LPC26
🚌 Bus drivers can have to go hours without access to a toilet; forced to hold it in or use bottles or hedges. Unite bus workers have been campaigning for years for access to clean lockable toilets and hand washing facilities. This is another huge win for the capital's bus drivers.
Authorities and operators across the UK and Ireland must now follow suit
Fancy another #UnionWin🏆?
Go on then
How about a huge 52% increase of pay for lowest paid staff?
When workers fight back, they win
When our movement uses its social weight together,
we win
When one group of workers wins, we all win
Victory to @unitetheunion#StrikeMap
OVER 2 MONTHS ON STRIKE AND A HISTORIC PAY WIN 📣
Workers at the Institute of Cancer Research are returning to the jobs they love after securing a huge pay settlement. The lowest-paid workers are set to see their pay increase by up to 52%, while other staff will receive increases above inflation.
The deal also means an average pay increase of 17.2% over two years, plans to scrap the workplace pension have been dropped AND the staff canteen is coming back 🎉
Many of those who took action had never been on strike or even been members of a trade union before. But workers from across departments completely defied management expectations by standing together on picket lines and at rallies to win the better pay and conditions they deserve.
We spoke to Teige, Johnathan, Jamila and Danny about what this win means to them and their collegues.
This is what happens when workers stand together. There is power in a union. ✊
As ICR members walk back into work together today, they do so more powerful from their superb victory for decent pay.
@unitetheunion will always back workers in dispute and this dispute shows the power of the collective, the power of being union.
Solidarity ✊
As we approach the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, historian @davidjrosenberg talks about the fight against fascism in East London.
The aristocrats like Mosley who led the fascists in 1936 wanted working class communities fighting among themselves.
Its the same playbook in 2026. The populist right - led by millionaires and funded by billionaires - wants ordinary people fighting among ourselves so we don't notice that their class is robbing us blind.
Didn't work then, won't work now.
LONDON BUS DRIVERS WIN CAMPAIGN ✊ 🚍🌡️
Following the launch of the #FightFatigueNow campaign, our union has secured a commitment from Transport for London (TfL) and London’s bus operators to fit air conditioning in every bus driver cab by May 2027.
This win is a vital step towards safer, healthier working conditions for all.
Over the summer, temperatures inside some driver cabs soared to 50°C, with workers reporting heatstroke, dehydration and fatigue. Some were forced to stop in service because they simply couldn’t continue.
The new measures will also include UV-protective film**o help reduce the risk of skin cancer.
This is what union organising delivers 📣
Unite regional officer Nadine Edwards said: “Unite will ensure these changes are actually implemented in the timeframe that has been agreed. We will not allow bus drivers to suffer through another hot summer.”

These workers are the brains behind the world's leading legal industry benchmarking platform, @thelegal500. 🧠
Their parent company boasted of a record turnover of over £30 million in 2025, and now research and editorial staff are striking for a fair share!
Social housing isn’t just about giving people somewhere to live. It’s an investment in our communities, our economy and our future.
In London, we spoke to Ian who's lived in Sutton Estate for 30 years and played a key role in saving the Sutton Estate in Chelsea about what access to social housing has means to the community and why the government need to build more homes that people can actually afford.
Research by Shelter and the National Housing Federation found that building 90,000 new social rented homes could add £51.2 billion to the UK economy over 30 years, while supporting around 350,000 jobs in the first year alone.
Today TUC Congress, unite put forward a motion about why we need invest in social housing now. It could also save billions in housing benefits, NHS costs, homelessness services and Universal Credit with the government funding repaid within 11 years.
But behind all those numbers are people who deserve a safe, secure and affordable place to call home.
We need more social housing. And we need it now.

It’s time to make the wealthiest pay their fair share and use that money to cut energy bills, ease the cost of living and invest in Britain.
We cannot keep asking working families to pay more while the richest get richer.
It’s time for action. @theipaper#WealthTax
🔥 UNITE WIN | Bedford Movianto NHS warehouse workers
Once again, Unite’s relentless focus on improving #JobsPayConditions is reaping rewards for our members. 1/2

Inadequate cooling systems in buses have left bus drivers having to endure appalling conditions this summer.
This concession from TfL is an important win in @unitetheunion's campaign to improve conditions for bus drivers in London and beyond. ⬇️
Could you survive on just £15.89 an hour in the heart of London? 👎
Workers keeping some of London’s best-known hospitals clean, patients fed and supplies stocked are striking over poverty pay and poor conditions.
Band 2 just won’t do. ✊
UNION WIN! London bus drivers to get air conditioning!
Following negotiations between Unite, Mayor Sadiq Khan and TFL, air con will be installed in all bus driver cabs by the end of May 2027.
During the heatwave cab temperatures could get as high as 40 degrees.
This is a huge win for driver and passenger safety!
After months of campaigning by @unitelondonandeastern, all London bus driver cabs will be fitted with air conditioning by May 2027✊
This summer, temperatures inside some bus cabs soared up to 50°C as most London buses currently rely on cheap and ineffective cooling systems that can lower temperatures by just 2–3°C during a heatwave, leaving drivers suffering from heatstroke, dehydration and fatigue.
Our members said enough was enough and we took action. Now, @Transport for London and London’s bus operators have committed to:
❄️ Air conditioning in all drivers’ cabs by May 2027 ☀️ UV protective film to reduce the risk of skin cancer
This is a major win for bus drivers and proof that when workers organise and fight, they can win real improvements to working conditions. 💪
Now progress has been made with TfL, Unite will be keeping up the pressure to make sure these changes are delivered and that drivers don’t have to suffer through another summer.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This concession from @TfL is an important win in Unite’s campaign to improve conditions for bus drivers in London and beyond. Unite will continue to fight for all bus workers to be kept safe and to be treated with dignity and respect.”
When workers stand together, we can win. ✊

Ahead of critical talks and after 60 days of strikes it is time for @ICR_London to negotiate fair pay for their researchers.

🚨Guys and St Thomas's staff to walk out over low pay and workplace issues
Alongside multiple other failures of management, members have been left with no option but to strike. They are the backbone of the hospital and are paid barely above the minimum wage.
During the recent heat wave, bus drivers have had to endure intolerable cab temperatures of up to 50°c
Now @UniteLondonEast members at Arriva North London have won proper air conditioning to be fitted in cabs.
Industrial action gets results.
Our strike mandate remains active to ensure these improvements are carried out.
