@rjang_ Hey Raymond, I'm an Australian investor and was hoping you could help me with something re a piece of writing you did recently (privately if possible). DM's open.
@howardlindzon Wow your country is a mess (not just cause of this though it’s a good example). Feel like everyone else in the world can see you’d be better off as two different nations at this point, do people there think that yet?
@RaoulGMI@wolfejosh Graphs like this and others (views on guns, abortions, taxes etc.) make it pretty clear to everyone outside the US: it’s 2 countries, irreconcilably split.
Results: inability to compromise, polarisation on every major issue, contempt of the other tribe. Fall of Rome stuff.
@patrick_oshag Mmm. Couldn’t agree more. Facebook, Insta, Snapmaps on Snapchat etc have already ruined the mental health of a few generations of teens through a 2D screen. Not keen on dialling up the dopamine hit and going from digital pill to a digital syringe to deliver that misery via VR.
@all_in_tok@theallinpod@Jason@chamath@DavidSacks@friedberg The reason the US seems like it’s failing to the rest of the world: people there seem unable to disagree or even tolerate other points of view.
The reason pod works: people there who disagree on big issues but still remain civil / friends.
@indranil_leo@StockMKTNewz@EconomyApp Yeah no it’s not. It’s from Visual Capitalists creator program. Nice try trying to get some cheap clicks though. 🤡
@Herring_NBA Doesn’t need a retweet to be true.
🎾Remember when she threatened to stuff a ball down a lineswomans throat?
🎾Accusing the umpire of being a thief in the US Open final?
Great player. Questionable on the sportsmanship.
@david_perell This (like much) is an American phenomenon. You know how most people get to stadiums in Australia? Public transport. They’re designed that way. I reckon 5% - 10% would drive. Most major stadiums don’t even have parking.
@wolfejosh@washingtonpost@SafiBahcall Just brainstorming that might be:
1. Energy investors (capitalist motive)
2. Environmentalists (pragmatic, not dogmatic)
3. National security folks (energy independence, away from dictators)
4. Educators (way to get the skills gap filled)
5. Philanthropists (scholarships for 4.)
@wolfejosh@washingtonpost There’s something in this for sure. But beyond retweets could there be a plan to get in the hands of true champions of it that would drive it forward? (lessons like those from the really interesting @SafiBahcall book ‘Loonshots’)
@investing_city Benefits listed above (margins) even more so for newer health focussed drinks category (distribution = powder sachets) which fit better with some trends: health conscious + lower sugar + science proven hydration formulas (e.g. Hydralyte, Nuun, etc.)
