@glisten28 I appreciate your honesty. People need to know about these risks. There is such a huge interaction between hormones and mental health and for many people it is not worth the risk.
@heyresaresa This and substack are honestly the only socials I have I just started being active on them this week lol, but I am open to learning from anyone.
@CobraineyMedia@airforcemomvet Possibly, but the more I research, the more I wonder if I’m reacting to the metabolites produced when oral progesterone is processed by the liver. I’m wondering if I might tolerate a cream or another delivery method better, but I need more info before I try anything
@owlathome1971@airforcemomvet I was literally researching whether I could have my uterus removed to avoid taking progesterone, and the thought that I might have to go that far made me sick.
Honestly, I’ve been making changes to my diet for years, but I’m always open to new ideas that might help...but to be real, I struggle with how much the messaging around nutrition seems to change. When I was a teenager, fat was the enemy. Now we’re told it’s our friend, and carbs seem to fall somewhere in between. I think what I really need is a comprehensive nutritional plan that takes all of my food sensitivities into account. But then I get overwhelmed thinking about all the things in our food that are beyond my control. It’s exhausting trying to figure out what’s actually best for my body.
I try to find value in all approaches to healing and have paid out of pocket for functional medicine for years. However, I also believe managed care has undermined traditional medicine by limiting thorough assessments and pushing providers toward pharmaceutical solutions rather than more comprehensive care.
@anjeleena_lee We are in this together at this time. There has to be a better way. We need more individualize research and options. Future women deserve better than this.
@LtScrappy@lgchampion86432 I've learned it’s important to approach the human body with humility. We’re incredibly complex, and our physical and mental health are so deeply interconnected that I’m cautious of anyone who claims to have all the answers
@AllieDevoxed@_katetolo That was true for me. I stopped using hormonal birth control years ago because I experienced too many side effects. Once it was out of my system, I felt more like myself again. I had no idea how much it was impacting me.
I’ve seen too many women experience significant mental health issues with hormonal IUDs, so I’m very hesitant about them. My provider suggested one when I didn’t tolerate oral progesterone, but I declined. I just can’t take the risk of experiencing a significant decline in my mental health with something implanted in my body that I can’t immediately stop taking. I need to feel like I have control over what’s happening in my body, especially when it comes to my mental health.
Thank you so much for sharing! I’ve been taking CoQ10 for a while, and I have the gene variant that affects how I process folate and B12, so I need to take methylated forms of both. I’ve found that injectable methylated B12 works better for me, especially given my ongoing gut issues. I agree that both have helped, but unfortunately, I’m still dealing with residual brain fog and fatigue.
@leedsonandon@meaganmalek Unfortunately, I have a lot of food intolerances and gut issues. I think that if I ate that for a month my family would evacuate my house 😂
@TheFern_X Thank you so much for the information. I am uneducated on social media, lol, so I often miss messages. I appreciate this, and I will look into it
@lgchampion86432 I could write a whole dissertation on the current state of the medical establishment, and maybe I will, if my brain returns to my body after all of this. I feel that the best guidance for me is from other women who actually have experience.
@MP123655 Do you know where to get guidance on using homeopathic supplements? I get so overwhelmed at the health food store isles, and I feel like I don't know what I'm going to get online. I am very open to Eastern approaches, but I need guidance and a plan that is specific for me.
@neuronrs Ugh, my great grandmother basically "went to bed for 5 years" during menopause. My grandmother and mother both had hysterectomies as a result. I will be the first in the line to try this insane ride with all my parts intact.
