What changed in the .NET MCP SDK 2.0?

The biggest shift isn't just a new version number.

It's a move toward building MCP servers that scale like ordinary HTTP services.

Here's what .NET developers should know 🧵👇

1/ Stateless by default

Previously, MCP over HTTP commonly relied on session IDs and session-aware routing.
With the new protocol, requests can be self-contained.

✅ Easier horizontal scaling
✅ Simpler load balancing
✅ Better fit for serverless deployment

2/ Multi-round-trip requests

What if an MCP tool needs user confirmation before completing an action?

The new Multi Round-Trip Requests (MRTR) model lets a server request additional input and continue through subsequent requests—without requiring a long-lived session.

3/ HTTP infrastructure can do more

Standardized MCP headers expose details such as the tool name and method.

This opens opportunities for gateways, proxies and routing infrastructure to handle MCP traffic without parsing the JSON-RPC body.

4/ What about existing applications?

The SDK emphasizes backward compatibility with older clients and servers.

However, teams using experimental Tasks APIs should review the migration requirements before upgrading.

NET developers: Would you deploy your MCP server as a standalone service or alongside your existing https://t.co/b88dPF4FZE Core APIs?

🚀 A noteworthy development from Android Dev Summit 2026: Android MCP and AppFunctions!

What if AI agents could interact with Android apps without navigating through multiple screens?

Consider a practical use case in an inspection application.

👤 User: “Show my pending tasks for the week.”

🤖 AI Agent: Discovers and invokes getPendingTasks() through Android AppFunctions.

⚙️ Android App: Executes the existing business logic and returns structured data.

🔗 Where does MCP fit in?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) provides a standard way for AI applications to interact with tools, while Android AppFunctions enables apps to expose selected capabilities to authorized agents.

Why should Android developers care?

• Existing business logic can be reused rather than rewritten for AI interactions.
• App capabilities can become accessible through natural-language requests.
• Security, permissions, and controlled function execution become essential architectural considerations.

For developers working with Kotlin, Jetpack, MVVM, and modern Android architecture, this opens up interesting possibilities for building AI-agent-ready applications.

The bigger shift? We may be moving from apps designed only for users tapping through screens to apps whose capabilities can also be accessed by AI agents.

I'm keen to see how this evolves across the Android ecosystem.

Today, two young men were killed next to our office when they fell off their scooty and were run over by a tractor-tanker which could not brake in time. Tractors have no place on our city roads… let’s try to put an end to their proliferation. They have weak brakes on their rear wheels only, often drive fast, and are often pulling heavy, non-braked loads.

@volklub @SandeepMall Mindset problem of always be in service based industry. Gov also does not have that aim in their so called “AI Stack”. Nobody wants to do research in deep stack in India .

E20 impact on my E10 friendly VW Polo

My 12 years old VW Polo has spark plug & injector issues thrice in 2 years. Total 1.50 lakh km done so far and it remained trouble free all these years because of the timely service, best quality engine oil (5w40 Motul) and sober driving.

Now, I feel scared to drive it outside Ludhiana because it seems e20 fuel is ruining my engine parts.

I can’t pass the tree killing fields near Galleria without sadness. “Not a single tree will need to be cut”, an @OfficialGMDA engineer had told us. We had been shocked by the plans for what was then one of the greenest parts of Gurgaon.

Our PM @narendramodi announced the "Aravalli Green Wall" project a few days ago, but on the ground, the Aravalli greens are still being razed. It’s been over two days and Bandhwari is still #burning — but authorities remain in deep slumber, comfortably enjoying their #Sunday while locals are forced to #breathe in thick, toxic fumes.
No emergency measures, no air quality checks, no firefighting action on ground.
How long will #citizens be left to choke while those responsible look the other way?
This is not just negligence — it's criminal apathy.
Wake up before another disaster unfolds right under your nose.
