@crewsin1234 Like all of the reports we publish, the purpose is to provide unbiased measures of commodities for use by all parties involved in US agriculture. LH

@MonteCarleaux I can’t speak to anyone else’s survey process nor speculate on how they might compare to ours. We considered both survey results and geospatial model results when preparing today’s corn & soybean yields — just as we have for years. LH

@MonteCarleaux Again, to expand on transparency in this area we took a different approach to try to better reflect all of the different data sources that feed the estimates. #StatChat LH

@NicoAIQ I won’t speculate on why farmers chose to plant specific crops this season, but at this point the estimates are driven by farmer certifications with FSA along with geospatial modeling for validation. The major crop total this season is just 0.4% above last year. LH

@twodollarcorn Field samples were only collected and used for winter wheat this month. The defined collection period was July 25 - Aug 1, but anytime a field is gonna be harvested the sample is collected then so samples were gathered throughout July. LH

@Austinhuggins27 Today’s estimates were based on acreage certified as planted by farmers to FSA. Principal crop acres are only up 0.4% from last year and right in line with recent years. LH

@kannbwx The response rate this month was 62.7%, down slightly from last August but still providing plenty of usable data for today’s forecasts. LH
