Scientists threaten strike over pharmacist-only clause in Drug Bill. Clause 31 of the Bill, limits the responsibility of supervising all manufacturing of drugs and health products to only a pharmacist https://t.co/RIvEBCYwSj #MonitorUpdates
@frankkalungi15@APSU2024@uspc21@Parliament_Ug@MinofHealthUG@PharmacistsUg@KagutaMuseveni Exactly
I don't know how else we need to unblack-box these people. I think it is dangerous when selfishness and greed control you!
All you think of are those licenses you use to earn money without doing any work to support the industrialization agenda of the country.
Very absurd
1. @AbiazRwamwiri, asserting a “Pharmacist-only” rule for the Qualified Person contradicts @WHO TRS 961 & EU Directive 2001/83/EC. Global standards recognize Biology, Chemistry, & Medicine as core disciplines for batch certification. QC is multidisciplinary, not a monopoly.
Add pharmaceutical mathematics!
They are lucky they have members on the Parliamentary Committee who were able to defend before the minister, where other pharmaceutical professionals were not represented! History will remember this treason!
@KagutaMuseveni
Does China and UK seem unwise to you to consider other pharmaceutical professionals other than Pharmacists? Countries that are far developed and at Maturity Level 3 that our phamacist-only Uganda, is striving for!
#RejectClause31: NDHPA Bill
China, UK and even Rwanda, all at Maturity level 3, are not unwise to consider other pharmaceutical professionals other than pharmacists, for the supervisory role in drug manufacture.
H.E @KagutaMuseveni , kindly intervene
@SLutoti@StateHouseUg
Even Educators were shocked! Any one that can foresee the negative implications of that Clause 31 and how globally undermining it is, would advise the same. Thank you teachers of Uganda. Because you are, the Nation is!
@KagutaMuseveni@ilo@FIP_org@MinofHealthUG@WHO@Mglsd_UG
The sponsors behind the omission of Pharmaceutical professionals other than pharmacists are not myopic, no! Ring fencing goals, and greed overpowered the need to do what is right
H.E @KagutaMuseveni kindly intervene
Why are Ugandans' lives taken for granted? Why is the Bill silent about experience?
"Qualified Personnel" is the global standard terminology to use because it encompasses both qualifications & minimum industrial experience required for one to supervise drug manufacture.
Even Educators were shocked! Any one that can foresee the negative implications of that Clause 31 and how globally undermining it is, would advise the same. Thank you teachers of Uganda. Because you are, the Nation is!
@KagutaMuseveni@ilo@FIP_org@MinofHealthUG@WHO@Mglsd_UG
Clause 31 of the NDHPA Bill, 2025 is also very silent about experience. Why are Ugandans taken for granted?
We as scientists in the pharmaceutical sector, we strongly reject clause 31
May H.E @KagutaMuseveni kindly intervene
