We are thrilled to welcome @bp_mcneilly as our next #UWashEMS Fellow!
Congratulations to Dr. McNeilly and the Section of EMS on a successful #EMSMatchDay!
Really proud of this work by @SeattleFire Medic One. Always working to improve patient care for the most critically ill patients in our community. The mantra of “measure and improve” definitely applied during this project. @UWashEM@harborviewmc
New data from #UWashEMS shows that routine use of the bougie during intubations by @SeattleFire paramedics increased first pass success. Open access available through January 2021: https://t.co/VT8eQp5tBt
Curious about “lessons learned” from #COVID19 in Seattle so far? Here are the compiled thoughts of several of us. Goal is for this to be a living page, updated as we learn.
One of the most unique parts about the #UWashEMS Fellowship is the opportunity to serve as a flight physician with @AirliftNW. Earlier this week @djsonstengphoto captured Dr. Betty Yang (@bettyy0) headed back to base after dropping off a patient at @UWMedicine. #EMSfellowship
Overheard in our office today: “Working to improve your chain of survival isn’t easy. You can’t take your eye off the ball. People say it gets boring. How is saving lives boring?!” – Dr. Tom Rea (Here he is saving a manikin’s life.)
Considering a career in EMS medicine and medical direction?
The #UWashEMS Fellowship is currently accepting applications for the 2020-21 academic year.

Flight Nurse Angela German administers plasma to a patient on Airlift 7 out of Yakima.
We provide two units of blood and two units of plasma on all our aircraft. Their use has been proven to increase survival rates.
Thanks to our partners @harborviewmc & @Bloodworks#HEMS#EMS
Safety, of our patients, pilots, and nurses, is our top priority.
We train continuously to make sure we are as prepared as possible and to reduce risk on all our flights.
Here are some photos from a recent training in Juneau, Alaska. #EMS

Our Juneau-based @PilatusAircraft PC-12 on a flight in Skagway, Alaska.
This aircraft cruises at 330 MPH, and can land at most rural airfields.
It's a workhorse of a flying ICU, complete with a hydraulic crane. With its Swiss design, it's also got some style.
