Anti-nikotiiniväen ja sen valjastaman median hölinät eivät perustu oikeastaan mihinkään. Sähkötupakointiin ja tupakointiin ihan oikeasti perehtyneen tutkijan viesti.
Professor Becky Freeman’s 2025 attempt to gaslight my Australian friends has aged well.
"Australia is a tobacco control success story"...
"This will also shrink the illicit market"....
https://t.co/JxGVeipqkp
Nothing demonstrates how fluent tobacco control experts are in being arrogantly, confidently, and galactically wrong quite like this.
Suggestions that cutting tobacco tax cannot reduce the illicit market are wrong. In 1994, the Canadian government slashed their tobacco excise (and boosted enforcement) and successfully suppressed the illicit market. Subsequent studies found the tax cut did the heavy lifting.
A clear and well-documented Community Note has been added to a deceptive post from @WHO_Europe. It is past time for WHO to clean up its act and tell the truth about relative risk. Stop conflating all tobacco and nicotine products as the same when the reality is so profoundly different.
New ABS data suggests Australia's nicotine control strategy is facing significant challenges (ie.exposing complete and utter policy failure), with total nicotine consumption estimated to have risen by around 40% since 2017 and per-capita consumption increasing by approximately 22%.
The figures indicate a dramatic shift from legal to illicit supply, with an estimated 80% of tobacco consumed in late 2025 sourced from the black market, confirming my previous estimates. Actually I can tell you in a lot of parts of Australia illicit nicotine products make up over 95% of supply!
While legal cigarette sales have collapsed, nicotine demand has remained strong, increasingly met through illicit tobacco and vaping products, raising questions about the effectiveness of current taxation and prohibition-focused policies.
It raises many major questions that I would expect only a royal commission into this God awful outcome could uncover!
These awful outcomes were warned about on several occasions via experts in senate inquiries and letters to politicians over the last decade.
However, its important to not conflate vaping with cigarettes because cigarettes are the nicotine products that kill, vaping products don't. The sad reality is that the increase in nicotine use totals are mostly due to increased cigarette consumption, not vaping!
Less than 3% of vapes are sold through the govt legislated measures via chemists.
Vaping is the most effective harm reducing nicotine delivery method for adult consumers, yet sadly this message has been lost via an arrogant government
(fed with 🐂💩 by their funded NGO's) as they refused to accept real world science, rather preferring to play political games to try and retain revenues on the back of deadly cigarettes.
Now its clear that not only has this been an utter disaster beyond anything ever seen like this before, not only by compromising better health outcomes for Australians, it has also fed tens of billions into the worst imaginable crime syndicates.
What a bloody disgrace!
24000 Australians will die from smoking 🚬 again this year and this death toll is not only set to rise, the black market get to diversify its portfolio, and now they are coming to take over the alcohol industry! 🤦♀️

Smokers already paid.
Every pack carried excise taxes supposedly designed to cover the costs of smoking.
If governments collected billions, why are taxpayers still being told they're footing the bill?
And as smoking declines, one has to ask:
Are anti-tobacco NGOs worried about public health, or about what happens when their funding model and relevance run out of smokers to fight?

@SenSanders Flavored vapes don’t endanger the lives of Americans to the contrary, we could be a smoke free country if we wanted to.
Please take a look at science and have a better understanding of this topic.
