After nearly 5 years at TikTok I am stepping down as COO. To our amazing community of creators, employees, & people who have made TikTok 'the last sunny spot on the internet', it has been an absolute privilege to serve you all & to be a part of this once in a lifetime journey 🙏
@eldsjal Agree. It’s a perfect example & outcome of Apple’s monopolization which has direct impact on apps’ ability to support their customers. It would be great to see the value of their fees in ways that actually support scaleability in the ways that matter eg Age / ID verification.
We're committed to providing a safe, secure platform, that fosters an inclusive place for our amazing, diverse communities to call home. It’s a shame today’s conversation felt rooted in xenophobia. Thank you to our employees who work tirelessly to protect our platform & community
1/ Our CEO, @ShouChew, came prepared to answer questions from Congress, but unfortunately, the day was dominated by political grandstanding that failed to acknowledge real solutions already underway through Project Texas or address industry-wide issues of youth safety.

I’m genuinely speechless. @tiktok_us, thank you so much for this platform and opportunity to share my story and my business with the world. This is what dreams are made of. 💛 #TikTokImpact#SXSW
I truly believe these are industry wide challenges that we need to address and solving through a piecemeal approach is not the way to protect the interests of Americans.
“Should there be national legislation? The answer is yes, but it should not be held to companies based on where they’re located” TikTok’s COO V Pappas said at the Upfront Summit. “It has to be an industry-wide conversation and not predicated on some xenophobia that we’re seeing.”
11/ So how to best address me? I use both they/them and she/her as I still very much value my identity as being both a woman and non-binary. I don’t worry if you don’t use V or they/them all the time, but I do appreciate the effort to recognize my preferences. Thank you.
10/ For those that know the C3 building you’ll know the mural I commissioned “Come as you are” on the 3rd floor. Words to reflect our goal of inclusivity.
