Paul Fletcher MP, Federal Member for Bradfield, has called for the release of Davit Ishkhanyan, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, and one of 23 Armenian hostages held by Azerbaijan since the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh in September 2023.
In a letter to Azerbaijan’s Embassy, Mr. Fletcher demanded regular updates on Ishkhanyan’s health and emphasized the global scrutiny on Azerbaijan’s actions. The Armenian National Committee of Australia praised his commitment to the cause.
Australian delegates at COP29 in Azerbaijan, including @Bowenchris, must give clear & unequivocal statements condemning Azerbaijan’s appalling ethnic cleansing of Artsakh & its atrocious behaviour in driving Armenians out of lands they have lived in for centuries 2/2
Australia calls on Azerbaijan to cease its military escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
We encourage dialogue and a commitment by all sides to talks that deliver a just and lasting peace.
@CKellyUAP A bit rich coming from a guy who praised Azerbaijan as a model democracy when ever leading international human rights org calls out the brutality of the Aliyev regime.
The @FCDOGovUK has called on 🇦🇿 to withdraw from sovereign 🇦🇲 territory yet @dfat and @SenatorWong remain silent. Silence only boldens the aggressor. https://t.co/dgXizmxRQU
Good morning @dfat - just letting you know your silence is being noticed by the Armenian-Australian community as #Azerbaijan attacks the sovereign territory of #Armenia#ArmeniaUnderAttack
May you always stand strong. Happy Independence Day #Artsakh. I bow my head in honor to all those and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom and independence.
Dear @TwitterSupport (@jack):
Why is #Armenian#Genocide denial allowed on Twitter?
These racist examples - dehumanizing and inciting toxic hate against an ethnic group - are from just the past week.
