🚨Please RT🚨 We are hiring! We have two immediate #postdoc openings! If you are interested in studying #microglia#development and functions, and want to use a cool animal model, #Zebrafish, to do that, please apply! More info: https://t.co/95a8SMIppZ
Happy our paper on RNA-seq to diagnose rare genetic disorders is out in @AJHGNews with @GraziaMancini3 @Jordy_Dekker_ and others from @Erasmusgenetica! 🎉🎊
Happy to announce a new paper from the lab! Very proud of this work by senior PhD candidate @wmberdowski (1st 1st author paper) others from the lab @Lesliezfish & collaborators not on twitter:

#ErasmusMC#zebrafish#glia#leukodystrophy#RareDisease 1/9
@wmberdowski pursued this/other aspects further in the last 3 yrs, with great perseverance, and our conclusion is that it could be a compensatory astrocytic phenotype indeed.
As always this also raises new questions (e.g. do abnormal astrocytes contribute to leukodystrophy?)
We then asked the question: could we get a glimpse of what consequence is of lower microglia density?
#multiomics Proteomics and RNA-seq data led to us to an abnormal endocytic astrocyte phenotype in #zebrafish and in #ALSP associated with lower microglia density. 5/9
Having shown the loss of microglia in #ALSP, this supports the idea that stem cell transplantation could benefit ALSP patients (as shown in several small scale clinical studies) Thanks to all involved @Erasmusgenetica, and ActaNeuropath for constructive/efficient review! 9/9
I was quite excited about the original findings, and applied to some grant to follow up on this (which I didn’t get 🙄). But continued the research regardless😛!

@rogiermin@Czopka_Lab @F_deVrij Indeed, thanks for initiating Rogier, fun to organize and to hear about novel white matter cell functions & tools to study them & clinical perspective!
Awesome (virtual) chalk talk (no slides) by @OdedRechavi
Question in Q & A "I can't see the slides"
Oded: "there are no slides" 😀 #ESHG2022#rnainheritance https://t.co/Pn0oTL44uC
Very nice/proud to see @Jordy_Dekker_ present this: rotated as 1st yr MSc in '15, came back after his MD for more and now close to get his PhD in lab cosupervised w/ @GraziaMancini3 and together w/Functional Genomics unit @Erasmusgenetica at #ESHG2022

Finding a cause in rare genetic disorders is key for treatment/prognosis/counseling, but often this cause is hard to find in DNA. Diagnostic RNA-sequencing improves diagnosis for neurodevelopmental disorders https://t.co/sI6y4xnPz1
