◾️In memory of Prof L Gattinoni, towering figure in ICM, profoundly shaping understanding of #ARDS & #ECMO. The “father" of prone position revolutionized MV with a pioneering "baby lung” concept. His legacy will guide/inspire for generations to come.

1. I don’t often tweet about my personal life, but on 1st November, my mum Jane was hit by a large vehicle as a pedestrian in St. Louis, USA. She suffered a severe brain injury & remains in a coma in hospital.
Here's Jane & me in happier times.
@HCH_Hill@yuanyi_z Here we go again.
DNACPR is a medical decision based on a consideration of whether CPR has any chance of leading to a good outcome. It should always be explained to the patient and/or their family (if no capacity). That is a legal requirement.
Today, I met Menna , an 8 year old girl who is the only survivor of her entire family. She lost her mother, her father, and all her siblings.
What do I say to her? Tell me what can i say to ease her pain? Are there any words?
Dr. Mohammad Abu Rukba, once a revered professor at Al-Azhar University, guided countless students through their PhDs and master’s research. He even had an office on one of Gaza’s most prestigious streets.
A few days ago, he shared this photo with a short explanation, though the sorrow in his eyes tells much more.
He explained that his only source of income now is selling bread, not as a baker, but by standing in long lines with his children to buy bread for $1, then reselling it for $1.50.
He repeats this process multiple times each day just to make ends meet.
* The situation we find ourselves in is beyond catastrophe.
We, the people of Gaza, once proud bearers of dignity, of education, of knowledge and culture.
But in the blink of an eye, war stripped away everything we had, everything we built, everything we were.
A year has passed, and yet we are still trying to understand how it all disappeared, how life could change so swiftly, so completely.

"What I’ve seen recently is a blanket, reflexive condemnation of any doctor who moves into a senior leadership role."
We need doctors to take on leadership roles—so why do we bring them down? @mancunianmedic

Got a poster accepted at a medical conference. Great.
Go to book it - even with the discount for presenting, the cost is £520 for 1 day or £800+ for the full 3 days.
Can any junior doctors actually afford this? That's my entire monthly rent and bills.

Oddly, for me, I have very few words! Gratitude to @lisamarkwell and @Telegraph to be given a platform to share Neve and our story. Sadness not to be able to tell Neve. A mix of bittersweet emotions. https://t.co/JJoehT960q My hope is that reading my words can help

Lets talk about eloquence, and how people think it's using big words, when actually it's about clarity of expression. Russell Brand uses lots of words (incorrectly, like pyrrhic) to create a word salad, while Rob uses language to eloquently state his exact point in 7 words
Alastair Campbell, "It is a fact that people wanted to get rid of the Tories, that's the difference between five years ago and today, they see an alternative.. A win is a win, a landslide is a landslide" @campbellclaret
Cathy Newman, "Do you think he could surprise us?
AC, "I think this early period of his premiership he will have enormous power.. When you say growth is the number one mission.. This is the first time a party has put planning reform at the heart of it's campaign"
CN, "He could be radical on planning?"
AC, "At every stage of his career he has been underestimated and then overdelivered"
CN, "Farage says he is coming for Labour"
AC, "You can't write off Nigel Farage but I think you cannot out Farage Farage.. Populism has never worked.. He is a creature of populism.. He isn't there to solve problems but to exploit them.. Labour has to show it can solve the problems the country is facing, including the problems that he exploits"
Thank you, London. It's the honour of my life to serve the city I love. 🙏🏿
Today is not about making history, it’s about shaping our future.
And I'll work relentlessly to shape a fairer, safer, greener city for every Londoner.
