Last January, I noticed something peculiar in my 2yo’s bedroom that - after a year of obsessive reporting - led me to a profound cosmic revelation about what’s even possible in our universe. A 🧵.
Progress is slower when one focuses more on tone of feedback given versus the substance of feedback.

Let’s talk image delivery for #AEMaaCS with focus on #webperf - First: image format 🗜WebP with fallback. Enable it via Image Component policy. My tests have shown that this reduces downloadable size of page+all resources by 40-50% ⚡️
Have been reviewing sites running on #AEMaaCS to see what it takes to get good #webperf & green #CoreWebVitals - over the next few days I will be sharing recommendations that have shown good success. Lets do #1 now 🧵
I’ve reviewed over 750 PR’s at AWS. As my team’s tech lead I provide insightful feedback and enforce a high code quality bar.
But as a jr engineer I couldn’t review code. I didn’t know where to start, what to look for or how to comment.
Here’s how I review PR’s. 🧵 👇
50 years ago I programmed In assembler, it was great.
40 y/a I switched to C, it was great.
30 y/a I switched to C++, it was great.
20 y/a I switched to Java, it was great.
15 y/a I switched to Ruby, it was great.
10 y/a I switched to Clojure.
I doubt I’ll switch again.
I’ll bet most Java programmers don’t know that there’s a tiny hole in the floating point spec, put there because Intel had a couple of issues with their floating point instructions 25 years ago. It’s been moot for a long time. Goodbye strictfp
