What to teach your kids: Teach them to love, be kind and love learning .... To stand up after failing or things don’t go as planned ... To enjoy the journey and that while they should seek outcomes, be detached from it and approval seeking ... And to battle ego. They will be set.
@bcherny “full stack archetype” is neat to see take shape. Builds on similar framing often referred to in product management:
- Prototyper ≈ Visionary
- Builder ≈ Operator | Craftsperson
- Sweeper ≈ Craftsperson
- Grower ≈ Operator (Growth)
- Maintainer ≈ Operator (Platform)
Criticizing is easy, reactionary and feels gratifying but it destroys. Nurturing is innate but effortful - done right, its game changing. You just have to decide to start with love.
@anothercohen For a first time visitor: oasis, Mozart, walk south Congress, Rainey street. With more time: wineries/breweries in dripping springs area. With kids: dm me.
@shreyas Just super followed you @shreyas. Thank you for all the inspiration in the past year -> tremendous impact on expanding my aperture of thought.
@snholli For me it’s usually a couple beers or a coffee at the Hill Country Galleria while the kids run around crazy on the central grass area. Feels like what life is supposed to be. The chaos with you but the stillness of watching it from a distance.
@daleschang I wonder how much of this is attributes to increased funding and higher marketing spend 🤔. Would be super curious to also see the spend graphs for those who grew 5x vs those that did not juxtaposed on these charts.
“No one washes a rental car” - if you don’t let your employees be owners (on projects and/or in equity) don’t expect employees to return the car in any better shape when it’s time to turn in.
If you have multiple kids, a sharpie can diffuse many fights. Simply initial their names on stuff (snack bags, bottles, toys, etc.). Territory awareness and respect starts to form. Caution: this is a hypothesis only. I plan to test this week.
@paulg Lots of decentralization across talent, funding, business friendliness, founding team mentorship/empowerment, etc. Market access may be one reason (that too on a case by case basis) for boots on the ground in a country/city. Let’s see how this plays out …🤔
