You overreact to financial setbacks because you lack context.
When you don't really know what a 'normal' amount of spending looks like, anything unusual seems like a catastrophe.
How to solve a pressing problem:
-Stop worrying
-Outline the major steps
-Budget time to work
-Hit a wall and adapt
-Change the outline and repeat
Most people never stop worrying and act only when it's too late.
@FinanceMaster06 Not getting enough sleep is a helpful tell. It means:
-You're taking on too much
-Aren't prioritizing the right things
-Feeling an unhealthy amount of stress
Respecting the signals your body sends is the key to a healthier life.
@Millennial_Wlth At
30 I lived beyond my means
32 I took on way too much debt
34 I had zero emergency fund
36 I got divorced
38 I admitted I was an alcoholic
40 I was laid off for the fifth time
I'm now 41 and have hit financial serenity. My only regret is not learning about money earlier.
I don't believe that America should be governed exclusively by the belief of one religion.
There are a set of core values at the intersection of all major religions. The golden rule for instance.
We should govern according to universal values and not by one religion's dogma.
Use a budget to:
Track expenses
Gather lifestyle data
Measure your financial health
Use the peace of mind to:
Be known for giving the best gifts
Save for experiences
Set up your future
Life is good when your money is right and you don't worry about it.
When you know:
how much you make
how much you spend
how much you keep
You can:
Make real plans
Adjust to a surprise
Stop playing small and start swinging for the fences
When you know your finances, everything else falls into place.
@lucahowey Being new to something is equal parts thrilling and humbling.
If you're no longer the new person, it's always good to help someone a few steps behind you.
I love the camaraderie @lucahowey!
@adrienne_lain I fill my calendar with blocks of time I call 'Dream work'.
This is time set aside to build my dream life:
-Write my newsletter
-Build a course
-Tend my X garden
This the appointment I never want to miss. Great reminder @adrienne_lain
@JBalicki84 I used to bemoan all of driving I'd have to do during the holidays when I lived within a few hours from my family.
I now live several timezones away and I'd kill to be able to just jump in a car and see them within a few hours.
If you're near family, cherish it.
Understanding the big picture of your money is transformative.
Surprisingly, a simple airplane analogy was all it took for me.

Want financial confidence? Understand the big picture.
Even if you do a great job saving and spending, it can feel like something's missing if you don't see how everything connects.
All your money fits into 3 buckets, each serving a different purpose:
Why this song kills:
-I've never heard anyone shred on a flute
-We all need a little more jazz in our lives
-Singing while playing. Mind blowing.
-It's about saving the earth
