I have tried many times to get ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Gemini to write scripts for my YouTube videos. It is still a complete failure.

For one thing, they are unable to come up with interesting topics. They will inevitably suggest topics that have already been widely reported and been discussed to death.

Far worse though is that even if I give them a topic, they are unable to write a script that even makes sense. The sentences sound coherent one by one, but read the entire thing and it's incomprehensible, repetitive, and complete junk.

They are not even good at doing as much as writing down a structure for a video.

On some level I am glad that I am still useful. On another level I am frustrated that they have not just not improved in the past 2 years, but actually gotten worse.

The two things that they are good for is (a) finding relevant references and other sources and (b) fixing English grammar problems.

They are still not any good for fact checking my scripts. Ironically not because they accept false statements as correct, but because they simply do not check the statements and flag even correct ones as wrong!

Tl;dr: if my videos suck, it's my fault.

🦔In South Korea, "dopamine sites" have spread among Gen Z. Fake food delivery apps where you browse menus, fill a cart, and simulate an order you never place. Fake shopping sites where you track a courier that doesn't exist. Virtual smoke break rooms where you sit with strangers and watch a timer count down. Young Koreans spend up to 30% of their income on rent. The youth employment rate has dropped to 43.6%. Nearly half a million young Koreans have stopped looking for work entirely.

My Take
I don't know whether to call this sad or rational. Probably both. If you can't afford the delivery, faking the order and taking the dopamine without the bill is a better financial decision than going into debt for the food. That's a sentence I never expected to write, but the logic holds.

This is what the end of the consumer pipeline looks like. Companies spent decades fine-tuning every app and every checkout to trigger the purchase impulse. They got exactly what they built. A generation wired to consume. And then the economy priced that generation out. The dopamine sites are the honest version of what every shopping app already does. The only difference is they took the transaction out. Every other shopping app is a dopamine site that also charges you.

Rich people who were too stupid to code before are now superstars. And actually brilliant engineers are made to feel stupid and redundant. Meanwhile coding has been synthesized into beige gooey calorie dense bars made from cockroaches and engineers have to line up with a small plate begging for their share from the token barons who, fortunately, at any given moment can feel generous enough to press a button that makes the tokens fly out like projectile vomit. Engineers at these companies, who sit mere inches from the spigot, frequently bless us with thinkpieces that we too should be doing what they do, and it’s actually quite unfashionable not to do so. Of course none of this is so much engineering advice as it is financial advice.

The creator of Linux just publicly called out the AI hype. Word for word.

Linus Torvalds took the stage at Open Source Summit 2026 and said this:

"When I see people saying 99% of our code is written by AI, I literally get angry. Because those same people — I can pretty much guarantee — 100% of their code is written by compilers. But they never say that."

He is not anti AI. The Linux kernel saw a 20% jump in submissions this release because of AI tools. He uses it. He gets it.

His point is something most people are too afraid to say.

AI is a productivity tool exactly like compilers were. Compilers boosted programming by 1000x. AI adds another 10x on top. Enormous. But nobody says "the compiler wrote my code." So why are we saying AI wrote it?

He also flagged something nobody is talking about.

AI is flooding small open source projects with drive-by bug reports. Someone runs a prompt, files a report and disappears when asked for a patch. Maintainers with one or two people are drowning trying to keep up.

"Sometimes AI reports a bug and when you ask for more information the person has done that drive-by and does not even answer your question. That is the real burnout issue."

And his final warning was the sharpest of all.

"People who do not understand the complexity of systems will prompt systems and write processes that will fail."

The AI hype crowd is very loud right now.

Linus has been building real systems for 35 years. When he talks, engineers listen.

@IceSolst @Mike22092778 It does check correctness, namely it checks that the behaviour of the binary it produces matches the source code you provided. Sure, if you don't know how to use the compiler, it can't check that... ^^ but that's a "you problem", not a "computer problem" ^^ right?
