An Indian shooter was struggling to pursue her Olympic dream because she couldn't afford a rifle of her own.
Nana Patekar learned about it.
He refused to let her dream die.
The shooter was Anjali Bhagwat, She would go on to represent India at three Olympics.👇
Back in the 1990s, resources for Indian shooting were limited. Anjali and fellow shooters Deepali Deshpande and Suma Shirur were sharing a rifle and shooting kit because they couldn't afford their own equipment.
When Nana learned about their situation, he sponsored Anjali’s shooting kit, including a jacket and trousers imported from Korea. He also helped her get her own rifle. ❤️
Anjali later recalled that having her own equipment was a major turning point in her career.
She went on to become one of India’s leading shooters, competing at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics.
She also rose to become the world No. 1 in the 10m Air Rifle event.
Nana Patekar may be known for his powerful performances on screen, but for Anjali, his support helped make a professional shooting career possible. ✨
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali’s emotional tribute to Nana Patekar is a beautiful reminder of a friendship that transcended borders. He recalled how the Bollywood legend stayed in touch for decades, checked on his mother during her illness, and reached out after Basit’s own heart surgery.
Beyond the screen, Basit remembered Nana as a warm, caring and genuinely good human being. His words also showed just how deeply Nana Patekar was admired in Pakistan.
Some artists belong to everyone. Nana Patekar was loved equally on both sides of the border. 🇮🇳❤️🇵🇰

NSE is desperate and this is your last chance to be heard on CAS.
NSE came out with a full front page ad in today's newspaper.
They're absolutely desperate to get their IPO through at all costs, while their key income source (derivatives volumes) struggles at 18 month lows.
Yesterday's CAS during Sensex expiry was another absolute shit show and another pathetic joke on India's stock markets.
A whole week has passed and still there is no update on the consultation paper which SEBI promised in a week.
There are only 2 ways they will awaken to their senses.
1. NSE IPO bombs out
2. BSE stock price keeps getting pummeled
These are the only two ways they get hurt badly.
And retail should punish the lights out of them if they don't fix CAS.
Spread the message far and wide if you agree.

Everyone remembers the videos from the Mumbai hospital fire. Smoke pouring out of the windows, patients on ledges, a crowd on the road below holding up their phones.
Almost nobody knows that one man in that crowd put his phone away, walked up to the fire brigade, and asked if he could borrow their ladder.
His name is Sidhu Humanabade.
On the seventeenth of December 2018, a fire broke out on the fourth floor of the ESIC Kamgar Hospital in Marol, Andheri. It was a government hospital full of the poorest patients in the city. Eleven people would die there, including a baby girl a week old. Around one hundred and seventy five were injured.
He was barely twenty, a Swiggy delivery boy from Bidar in Karnataka, riding past with a load of food on his bike. He had come to Mumbai to work because his father was ill and someone in the family had to earn.
He stopped his bike. He could hear people screaming from the upper floors.
He did not film it. He walked over to the firemen and asked for permission to help. They let him climb.
He went up the fire brigade ladder to the fourth floor, broke the glass with an axe, and got inside a burning hospital he had no training to enter. Then he began bringing people out to the window ledge, one at a time, and carrying them down.
For two hours he went up and came back down. Ten people came out of that building in his arms.
One of them, a patient, slipped from his hands as he was lowering her and fell. She survived. He has spoken about that moment since, and it is clearly the part he cannot put down.
Eventually the smoke got into his lungs and he collapsed. He was admitted to hospital himself, one of the injured of a fire he had walked into voluntarily.
Later, a citizens group formed after another fire tragedy gave him an award, and said they would try to help him get a job in the fire service. Not the state. A group of ordinary citizens.
He was asked afterwards what he would tell people. He said that during the fire, many were busy taking photographs and shooting videos instead of helping, and that this was not the time to show off camera skills. He said there is nothing more important than a human life, so forget the phone and help.
He had a delivery to make and a sick father at home. He climbed a fire brigade ladder into a burning hospital instead.
Everyone knows the Uphaar cinema fire. Fifty nine people who went to watch a war film in Delhi and never came home.
Almost nobody knows that the safest man in that hall, the one person trained and calm enough to walk straight out, chose to stay inside until it killed him.
His name was Captain Manjinder Singh Bhinder.
On the thirteenth of June 1997, he was at the Uphaar cinema in Green Park watching Border, the film about the soldiers of Longewala. He was a real one.
An officer of the 61st Cavalry, a national level horseman who had just won gold at the National Games and was being talked about for the next Asian Games. He was there with his wife and his four year old son.
Partway through the film, a transformer in the building caught fire. Thick black smoke began filling the balcony. The exits were few, badly lit, and some were blocked. People had minutes, and most of them did not know which way to move.
He got his own family up and moving toward the way out, the way any man would.
And then he turned around and went back in.
He understood what a panicking crowd in the dark does. It bunches at the wrong doors, it freezes, it tramples itself. So he put himself in that stairwell and did the job he was trained to do.
He took charge. He steadied people. He guided women and children through the smoke toward the narrow passage that led out, group after group, breathing that air the whole time.
More than a hundred and fifty people got out of that cinema alive because a soldier stood in the dark and refused to leave until they did.
He did not get out. Neither did his wife. Neither did his little boy.
There is a Netflix series about the Uphaar fire. It is told, rightly, through the eyes of two parents who lost their children and spent decades fighting for justice. His name is not in it.
And there is one more thing the country should be made to sit with. After he died saving over a hundred and fifty of its citizens, his elderly parents had to fight the defence ministry for years for his pension, because a clerk's rule said he had not died fighting an enemy.
He walked out of that fire once, with his family, and he was safe. Then he heard the people still screaming inside, and he went back.
