Straighten out Basics first.

Pune has 72 lakh vehicles and 2170 kms of road including laning.

Pune can’t accommodate its traffic volume even if they were to 5X the quantum of roads. Think this through. @SidShirole & @mohol_murlidhar if you can’t, then ask the IIT’ians who advise you to grow a brain first.

Reality for those who care to listen ;

At 5 lakh vehicles on the streets.
Pune traffic gets gridlocked.
20 minute commutes taking 2 hours is a regular feature in pune.
It isn’t a LC road Vetal Tekdi phenomenon alone, the biggest traffic jams are where the roads are the widest. Hinjewadi to Warje, Hadapsar to Swargate and Wagholi to Yerwada are prime examples. Roads are 45 to 86 metres wide in these places. Traffic is a crawl. Everyday.

It’s time Pune begins moving people over vehicles and the first step towards that is to totally scrap building pie in the sky road projects, flyovers, tunnels and bridges to nowhere. They only increase traffic and congestion, pollution and road dust. They make the city into a heat sink. The HCMTR & the Ring Roads are simply traffic disasters in the making. Widening roads makes Pune road speeds triple and compound black spots. Some get crushed under @Porsche or @AudiIN @bmwindia wheels no less. Look at the frequent accident pile ups at Navle Bridge or at Katraj Kondhwa Road.
Pune now loses approximately 2 lives each working day to accidents. Road development’s gift to the city.

What Pune needs @harshadsustrans

Pune needs 10,000 buses & high quality roads. High quality buses with WiFi, charging points, AC & battery operated.

Not this tunnel and flyover batshittery. They’ve failed throughout Pune. Not a single flyover now doesn’t experience traffic loads beyond its carriage capacities., COEP, Hadapsar, FC road,

Pune’s roads are a joke and Gadkariji with his flyovers and choked expressways along with the chandni chowk jalebi experiment is a public spectacle @nitin_gadkari give us good roads first not more highways and flyovers and jalebis which we have no use for. 150,000 crores can overhaul the entire transportation infrastructure of PMRDA. Do that over seeking solace in concrete. Don’t lay our city to waste.

You see, if you can’t build a single world class road in Pune. I would rather you do that first before digging tunnels or inflicting more flyovers on us.

Aside, If we don’t have clean air, pure water or zero garbage.
