Effective sewage management is a major challenge in towns that lack a proper underground drainage system. Addressing this challenge through innovation, Tenali Municipality in Guntur district has established a modern Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a treatment capacity of approximately 10 million litres per day.

By scientifically treating wastewater and reusing the treated water for agricultural purposes, the municipality is not only conserving precious water resources but also contributing to environmental sustainability.

This initiative is a shining example of how wastewater can be transformed into a valuable resource, promoting sustainable urban development, water conservation, and a greener future for generations to come.

Driving Sustainable Solutions for a Cleaner Andhra Pradesh!
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) team, led by Ms. Surabhi Malik, Director, SBM(U), along with Shri Manoj Mathur and Shri Deepak Goel, visited key sustainable waste management and clean energy facilities in Guntur and Tenali.
The team reviewed the E-Autos and Solar Energy Plant in Guntur, which are promoting clean mobility and renewable energy adoption. In Tenali, they inspected the Coconut Fiber Unit and Composting Unit, showcasing innovative practices that convert waste into valuable resources while supporting sustainable livelihoods and environmental protection.
These initiatives reflect Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to strengthening urban sanitation, resource recovery, renewable energy, and sustainable waste management, paving the way for cleaner and greener cities across the state.

The Swachh Survekshan & CITIIS Workshop in Vijayawada brought together officials to review key strategies for improving urban sanitation and city performance. Sri Suresh Kumar, I.A.S., Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), guided officials on important Swachh Survekshan indicators and effective implementation across ULBs.

He emphasized the need for 100% commitment and collective efforts to achieve the target of securing 50% of the awards in Swachh Survekshan. He also highlighted the importance of monitoring public feedback on social media and responding to photos and comments within 24 hours to improve cleanliness and service delivery in cities.
