APC Presidential Campaign Council Inauguration: "...We elected a political magician to lead Nigeria...Atiku is not Abraham Lincoln, he is Odinga Odinga...A country of over 200 Million people can not be govern by statistics..." - Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria
We're joking with a time bomb. When it explodes it will touch everyone. Clean out the tradefair complex, Alaba, Ladip, Okoko, Oyingbo markets now before it becomes a problem. Our traditional management of markets would have prevented this menace if we hadn't surrendered it to strangers. We can't be harbouring people producing fake drink, baby food, and beverages and thisk it will not have consequences. We can't ruin the health of our people to be politically correct. They will not even vote for you in anycase. When ot comes to saftey and wellbeing any action taken is justified. @drobafemihamzat@mudashiru_obasa@officialABAT
I strongly believe that President Bola Tinubu should consider deploying his cabinet members back to their respective states to intensify grassroots engagement, interact directly with the electorate and properly communicate the achievements, policies and vision of his administration.
Every minister should take responsibility for building stronger support for the President in their home state through town hall meetings and direct engagement with citizens.
Let every minister win his or her state for the President.
A national emergency on fake food, drinks and drugs is needed asap. @officialABAT
I’m not sure what or how it can be done, but a 6 months clamping down on these people is needed.
If the military needs to get involved, let them get involved.
If a special court can be formed for this purpose, so be it.
Either before or after the election, one thing I want the President to declare serious war against is FAKE PRODUCTS INDUSTRY. It has gotten to the stage that National Emergency must be declared, otherwise, these people involved in the selling of fake products will cause Nigeria and Nigerians more pains and death than we can imagine.
The President must ignore whatever noise or cry that will come from this war. Saving the lives of innocent Nigeria must be his priority.
#HappeningNow NAFDAC has uncovered a suspected counterfeit production facility at Zamfara Plaza, BBA Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene while allegedly revalidating energy drinks and popular wine and whisky brands.
More details to follow shortly.
"What has been going round on social media that we have abandoned the alignment of the 750km coastal highway of the Lagos - Calabar in favor of the alignment of East - West road is highly mischievous info. The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is progressing, with some sections recording over 40% completion.
“Section Two which is 55km is expected to be ready by mid-November. The FG is also seeking approval to integrate 400km of the East-West Road, boosting connectivity and economic opportunities across the Niger Delta”
- Honorable Minister of Works, David Umahi
Coastal road this coastal road that. Everyday! You would think that’s the only project going on in Nigeria.
The fixation on it explains how myopic and unserious we are as a people.
Many of you can’t wait for it to fail, just to keep for joy in “I told you” rhetorics.
The coastal line in Ondo is being rerouted for reasons hinged on deep pits, unsuitable soil, flooding risks, which will definitely increase the cost.
Instead of applauding the economic and engineering decision, you are basking in your foolishness.
Where are the civil engineers? They are the ones that should be speaking to confirm and educate us whether this is a normal thing or it’s abnormal and what could be the reason for this.
Important conversations should not be left to ignorant propagandists
As a civil engineer, I find it surprising that people who have no engineering training will boldly fault engineering design decisions without understanding the background reason.
The real question any critic should ask is: are the reasons behind this design change genuine?
You are laughing with emojis because you are looking at a mega-infrastructure project through the lens of a tailor.
A road route is not drawn in permanent ink. The diversion of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway from the immediate shoreline is not a mistake; it is a calculated decision based on very practical realities.
First, the original route directly clashed with the landing stations of Nigeria's international submarine cables. Building over them would mean risking a massive internet and telecommunications blackout for the entire country.
Second, sticking strictly to the old coastal line meant the government would have to destroy multi-billion Naira investments, established resorts, and ancestral communities. One of them is Okun-Ajah.
Therefore, diverting the road slightly inland saves the government billions in compensation and protects people's homes and livelihoods.
Again, one thing we must not forget is that the Atlantic Ocean is aggressive. Because of severe coastal erosion, building a permanent highway right on the water's edge is dangerous.
As such, moving the road inward creates a safe buffer against ocean surges so the highway does not wash away in a few years.
Anything outside of this is a political talk. And I am not interested in that.
Engineering is about solving real-world problems. So next time, before you laugh at a structural diversion, understand the facts driving it.
If you think a Tigers life is more important than a human life, you have something deeply wrong with you. The tiger should have been shot on the spot while the man was still alive, they had plenty of time to do so and everyone knows it. It’s easy to make fun of the guy but if it were your family member you’d want the tiger killed to save them. Don’t @ me I don’t care.
HAS HUNGER FINALLY DRIVEN ROTIMI CRAZY?
"The election is over. Tinubu, Peter and Duke are from the South. Only Atiku is from the North, therefore he will win." - Hungry man, Dependent Husband, Irresponsible Son, and ADC VP candidate Rotimi Amaechi.
I don't know if Rotimi is being sarcastic or he is merely leading Atiku on, but I sincerely refuse to accept he is genuinely this naive. Because even the bonafide members of the now renowned 'Didirin Association' cannot be this obtuse.
POINT 1: WAS ATIKU A SOUTHERNER IN 2023?
If being a Northerner in a South saturated political field guarantees victory, why is Atiku not President today. Afterall, in 2023, an almost identical pattern existed then too, where Atiku was the only major Presidential candidate from the North.
But after the noise of campaign had simmered and the people have had ample time to reflect upon the promises of each candidate and weighing them against the scales of antecedent and history, they placed geography aside and answered to posterity.
IN THE NORTHWEST: the political headquarters of the North, Atiku fell. He gathered 2,329,540 votes. The Northwest entrusted Asiwaju with 2,652,235, a difference of 322,695 in favour of the Jagaban.
IN THE NORTHEAST: Atiku's homestead and strongest hold, he could only manage a meagre 552,388 difference over Asiwaju. Where he got 1,737,846 votes, Asiwaju mustered 1,185,458 votes. The difference is insignificant if you consider that in Asiwaju's own stronghold, there was a significant difference of 1,337,466 over Atiku, nearly triple of Atiku's advantage in his own backyard.
IN THE NORTH-CENTRAL: Asiwaju did not even need the Southwest to cover Atiku's edge. Atiku managed 1,162,087 votes. Asiwaju answered with 1,760,993, a margin of 598,906, enough to erase whatever advantage the kleptocrat had gathered at home.
So for the North as a whole:
• Asiwaju: 5,598,686
• The 'educated' smuggling consultant: 5,229,473
• The Deloitte/Mobil trained 1st class Accountant's lead in the North alone: 369,213
So which North does Rotimi speak of? The same North of over 300 ethnic groups, many of whom have collectively been rejecting Atiku since 1993?
The North is a noble stock, an identity rooted in ancestral discipline and integrity. You do not claim their loyalty just by sharing their bloodline, do you also share their character and prestige?
The North adored Sardauna Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Aminu Kano, Balarabe Musa, and Muhammadu Buhari...
These were men of mettle who could command the trust of the North even if they sat in a wheelchair with hair gone grey. They shared one quality: integrity. It is a quality Atiku has never been formally introduced to.
POINT 2 - HOW OLD WAS ROTIMI IN 1993 WHEN MKO DEFEATED TOFA IN KANO?
Because the man who lectures us on Northern loyalty should remember that Kano itself once looked at its own son, Tofa, and chose Abiola, a Southerner.
Shall I Begin?
If we must get it right in 2027, Nigeria needs serious leadership.
I have listened to @PeterObi speak on fundamental national issues, and I remain unconvinced that he has the depth of policy thinking or economic ideas required to lead Nigeria at a time like this.
All I hear from him are promises that:
1. He will be compassionate.
2. He will not spend his holidays abroad if elected.
3. He will visit every state in Nigeria.
4. He and his family will not be corrupt.
But when it comes to policy ideas and economic fundamentals, he either adopts ideas proposed by others, such as reversing the fuel subsidy removal, or agrees with existing policies, such as retaining the floating exchange rate for the naira.
Obi has yet to demonstrate a firm grasp of the policies Nigeria needs. When pressed on core economic issues, his response often amounts to “Don't worry, I will do it” or a claim that he has done it before.
Nigeria's presidency is too consequential to be won on the strength of content creation, social media popularity and campaign sound bites.
Aso Rock is not a content creation studio. Nigeria needs a president with depth, clear policy positions and a coherent economic vision—not just promises and social media vibes.
🚨 Patrice Evra criticizes Benin players for asking Lionel Messi for pictures after the match.
🗣️ Patrice Evra: “How can you be a professional footballer representing your country, then the moment the match ends, you rush to ask another grown man for a picture like a little child meeting his idol?
This is exactly why African football is still behind. We have talented players, but sometimes the mentality is embarrassing.
You just played against this man for 90 minutes, competing against him as a fellow professional, and immediately after the final whistle, you forget all that and start chasing him for pictures.
There is nothing wrong with respecting Messi, but why do you need a photograph with him so desperately? Is he not a human being like you?
The problem is that some players have already defeated themselves mentally before they even step onto the pitch against these big names.
You can admire a legend without treating him like a god. You are also a professional footballer, and you should carry yourself like one.
Until we change this mentality and start believing in ourselves, African football will continue to struggle for the respect it deserves.”
