Just to jinx my sanity, I’ve been 12 hours spam text free after putting @verosmsapp on my phone. I guess it’s working? Or ATT got sick of me calling & screaming at them.
@AbhiHiSahi @Praval@krisnair@Truecaller All SMS processing is done on device. A crowdsourced list for keywords in maintained on our servers. No SMS leaves your device.
There are some known issues (iOS bugs already reported to Apple) you may want to look at https://t.co/KTDqwSE6Rp
@ksprashu@joethomas 12.4 has fixed it from what several people have reported in so far.
Personally I’m on iOS 13 Beta 5 and filter is working on that as well.
iOS 12.3.1 introduced a bug where the first time any SMS comes from a particular sender, it skips the filter. Subsequent SMS from that sender will get filtered.
Bug report I filed with Apple: https://t.co/XzkrTdbDYc
@Vijay_PGT @tanmays@vijayshekhar All processing is done locally via on device ML filter and a crowdsourced keyword list. No SMS ever leaves your device.
@boy_mediocre @anaggh @PerzenP That is just a standard iOS message. The API allows the dev to send SMS to a server for processing. But in VeroSMS all processing is done locally on device. Nothing leaves your device.
Finally got time to fix @verosmsapp filter not working on iOS 12 and turns out IdentityLookup API is entirely failing on iOS 12.

@Praval Sometimes companies use the same gateway to send OTP and promotional sms. In this case the filter sends the sms to spam if its a promotional sms but future texts might contain OTP. In this situation the filter doesn’t run and iOS marks it as spam automatically.
@Umesh_Kadam There is a bug in iOS in which if an SMS by a sender was previously marked as spam, any future msgs get sent to spam automatically. I have reported this to Apple.
To prevent it, you‘ll have to delete the entire thread of that sender & any future sms will get filtered correctly.
@Umesh_Kadam@tanmays Once it’s flagged as spam to only way to unflag is to delete that entire thread. Any future messages from that sender will be filtered correctly.
