@EddieComeaux If higher education institutions cared about their students then they would #defund the police and focus their investment on creating more resources for Black students and other marginalized population. What are we waiting for? #racialjustice
Major college football programs & the institutions themselves make students prioritize sports over academia & ultimately this ends up hurting the student instead of helping. Is it a good idea to be a student athlete if you value education more? #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@VivianaNavaUCR @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Push for the easy "A" classes and even assign these athletes majors. How can we trust staff like this to want what is best for students when there are clearer interest being prioritized @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
@jazmine_garcia0@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar It is crazy to look at the numbers and see how much these institutions are able to profit off of these players. With this much revenue being brought in, the players would easily be able to get some form of compensation. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
If institutions continue to support the NCAA, student athletes will continue to be exploited through the use of image & dedication to the sport. The NCAA claims to value amateurism, but it is simply an excuse to keep profiting off these students #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@CarissaCoss@Sarah_Mercado1@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar This can be reflected back on how athletes are maintained under contracts that control them and hold them from using their own rights for simple things like transfers and use of their image for profits. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Of course the NCAA has to make transferring a difficult process for athletes. Athletes then become discouraged from doing so. ALL students should have the freedom to decide to transfer if that is their choice. Many students value their education #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@AnaVazqB@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar It is common for concussions to not be reported because of this exact reason. Players are worried to be replaced. Colleges need to provide support for students by assuring them that they will still be part of the team in some way. @MisssNallely @rabea_qama #ucr150
First peer-reviewed publication. Our work centers on #collegeaccess and #collegereadiness during the #summerbeforecollege. Words cannot describe how thankful and I am for @Tichavakunda's guidance and mentorship! He is a GOAT and big brother for sure!

Concussion education needs to be enforced to student athletes and faculty in order to make sure there is awareness on concussions. Health of students should be a priority so concussion education needs to be taken more serious. #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Title IX is set to promote gender equality in sports but has yet to make this possible for women in sports. It contributes to the #inequality because under this title, more money is being spend on men in sports #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@VivianaNavaUCR @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely There needs to be a rewrite of the NLI to accommodate more for the athletes. These contracts serve to protect colleges instead of looking out for the students who sign them. Athletes should be able to get out of NLI signing with no penalties. #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
The NLI is no proper form of representation for college athletes. This is yet another example of how student athletes are #exploited. Why should students continue signing off their rights to schools that are limiting their rights? #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@_itsmelliissaaa@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar When doing this weeks readings, it was new to me that student athletes can't even receive more than enough financial aid because it affects amateur status. I agree that those with financial struggles should receive $$ @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #Ucr150
The NCAA chooses not to pay student athletes to keep their amateur status without considering the hard work that is put into the sport. Student athletes are not asking for salaries like NBA players but some form of compensation. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
@VivianaNavaUCR@helloJuJudy@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I know many of us feel though student athletes should be compensated for their hard work that goes into these sports AND academia, but do you think they should receive similar pay as professional athletes on major league sports? @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#ucr150
