@EddieComeaux I agree with what the Portal school district is doing. More schools should take the step to fund program such as counseling. School is continually getting defunded and that money should come from the unneeded money the school police receives #racialjustice
@alyssa_mart21 @rabea_qamar I agree Alyssa and makes me question other sports as well. The three you mentioned are huge sports for institutions but is it like that with women sports or other sports such as golf. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@MariaSe87639541 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Thank you for the chart Maria! It’s interesting to see that numbers don’t really change. It speaks for itself as athletes should be prioritized! #Ucr150
I believe that the NCAA transfer rule can hold student athletes accountable for playing for the school and not using it as a start. Although I see problems where it might hold them to a school with negative experiences. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@khuer002@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Completely agree. Although they do have medical assistance on hand they still fail to protect the student. It is about getting them safe ENOUGH to go back on the field and not about health.
@MariaSe87639541 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Yes! Completely agree with you. Especially during signing day when people who represent the school tell the athletes parents how good they will take care of them but when it comes down to it they don’t.
Pictured:Severity in # of concussion within student athletes & how “personal” the institution reacts.More than half of these students will go untreated bc they are easily replaced and scared of losing scholarships. It’s not about the athlete. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@jvela030@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Unfortunately sports have been seen more masculine and people refuse to credit females. Take the U.S soccer team for example. The women do so much better winning world cups yet they still value their soccer men more.
@Plantbabezz @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely Sadly, it is not. Women have proved in blood sweat and tears that this is more than just a mans sport. Unfortunately, people still refuse to see that. It makes me wonder if they’re silenced to also question title IX.
Pictured is salary and bonus being EQUALLY compared in wins and loses. The U.S women’s soccer team has represented determination all to be overlooked by men’s soccer. This is a larger scale to what college sports are. This overwrites TITLE IX! #Ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@MariaSe87639541 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Yes! Completely agree. I feel like this is the easiest way to get students to join. To speak above what they know. If the sounds “smarter” they will hesitate to ask questions cause they won’t even know what to ask. #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@jvela030@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree. It is like the students get trapped by saying all the right things. It later becomes difficult for students to leave because they don’t any different and this is exactly what they want. #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
The NCAA has turned into a huge celebration. It is easy for students and families to overwrite their right to question with excitement. It is unfortunate that student athletes are given a ONE year contract to “trap” them. #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@Adams_Shawntell @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely That’s a great way of putting it and complete agree with you. It’s sad that their compensation is just playing for the universities. Athletes are being taught to obey and not ask by this new definition.
@adrianakl98@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar Love the way you worded it!!! It’s almost like playing for the university/college is enough for them and that should be their “prize.”
College athletes are the “backbone” for many Universities. They keep up the great status and portray the school in a positive light. Why are those athletes limited to scholarships and opportunities when that strengthens them? #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
