Very mixed emotions. Handed in my notice last week which will mean saying goodbye to my team. A team that’s been hugely supportive of me the sites and community we serve. If people remember all that really matters is the work we do and the people that do it, and we do it for!
Great to have the sheriff and chair of the freeman out for the roundup up this morning. Really important to meet the graziers who play a vital role in conserving Port Meadow. Ground was just a tad damp!!!
Nature recovers the land best. No Planting. No seeds. But species rich grassland interspersed by trees here in former arable (18 yrs), Norfolk. Nothing special about situation. We need to trust natural processes more than we currently do @woodlandbirder @TonyJuniper
The term greenbelt is not about conservation or biodiversity! The below is a former brownfield site, packed with more biodiversity than the equivalent size of greenbelt. Stop the stupid labels and protect and enhance biodiversity where you find it!!
Looking rather splendid. But I would say that. Very simple recipe.knowledge, if you can’t find any on your shelf try @judyweb32049878, a good handful of passion and a sprinkle of tractor and scythe. Consistent management for a minimum of 12 years and hay presto!!!
I see a lot of negative social media and press about grass in the city. I think we can do better around some of the city. That said as far as grassland managed for conservation all the volunteers, @OxfordCity and @ODS_doinggood do a bloody good job!
