The worst kept secret anywhere is that Jordan, Egypt, UAE, the Saudis etc are all covertly rooting for Israel to diminish Iran’s proxy reach in the region.
These numbers are obviously impressive, but I have to stress again:
These drones are essentially designed to be shot down. They’re cheap and they attack in swarms for a reason — if a dozen or so make it through, that’s a win for Iran.
The missiles are the real test here.
Via space-based sensing, the U.S. knows exactly how many ballistic missiles have been launched and from exactly where. Likely cruise missiles with their boosters, as well which give a different infrared signature profile. Keep that in mind.
Conducted on the strength of Article 51 of the UN Charter pertaining to legitimate defense, Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus. The matter can be deemed concluded. However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!
Ali Vaez, Iran director for @CrisisGroup told @nytimes, “Iran and Israel are taking the region into uncharted waters. It is difficult to overstate how perilous this moment is, and how disastrous its consequences could prove.”

Officials told the NYT's @julianbarnes "it is likely that Iran will try to synchronize the drone attack with faster moving missiles, which would be launched later. The slow moving drones, the former official said, could be used to distract Israeli defenses." #IsraelIranWar
Israeli military statement on Telegram:
"A short while ago, Iran launched UAVs from within its territory toward Israel.
"The IDF is on high alert and is constantly monitoring the operational situation. The IDF Aerial Defense Array is on high alert, along with IAF fighter jets and Israeli Navy vessels that are on a defense mission in Israeli airspace. The IDF is monitoring all targets."
Statement from @NSC_Spox:
"Iran has begun an airborne attack against Israel. President Biden is being regularly updated on the situation by his national security team and will meet with them this afternoon at the White House. His team is in constant communication with Israeli officials as well as other partners and allies. This attack is likely to unfold over a number of hours. President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel’s security is ironclad. The United States will stand with the people of Israel and support their defense against these threats from Iran."
Breaking news: Iran launched drones from its territory toward Israel late Saturday, the Israeli military said, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the country was “ready for any scenario.” https://t.co/EKthYMEtdC
