KK, a friend from IIT days, told me that Mumbai never gets pre-monsoon rain! I hadn’t paid attention but Vikram followed up. A nice study came out of it. An obvious follow-up waits. Nothing’s simple with the monsoon. Location-specific dynamics beckon. Fun

Climate models show biases or systematic errors. Quantile mapping methods (Bias Correction Spatial Disaggregation) are popular for correcting these biases. But do they only fix only systematic error, or do they risk overcorrection? @vikram_chandel_ answers https://t.co/9bx2LlekJA
The living lab of @ClimateIITB@iitbombay at Kaledhon village, Satara is getting ready. AWS and soil moisture sensors are now installed. Thanks to our colleagues and students, Seva Satara, Bhugol and TiH for their hardwork. @v2dixit@KarthikeyanL07@mayank_clim @IitbTih .
To those who say that our children have less ability to withstand heat than we did (as this person says in Hindi), let me present the IPCC SYR SPM 1. Our children have inherited a much warmer world, thanks to our past actions. Our present actions will determine future warming.

@ClimateIITB plans to set up a Centre of Excellence in Climate Services and Solutions @iitbombay . We are seeking CSR support from industries. Our proposal is ready with IITB DRF @ravishankarg172 .
@TaveenK@mayank_clim Nice! But why is the AOD trend not causing cooling in January? I was thinking ambient moisture would be playing some role but I found no trends in specific humidity near surface for both December and January.
It is fascinating to see a cooling trend (2m air temperature) in December in the northern plains. Is irrigation the reason? or increasing fog over the years? or something else?
Had a great opportunity to meet Prof. Wallace and Susan. Their energy and enthusiasm at this age inspired me. I am grateful to @ClimateIITB for making this happen.
1) What are the climate drivers of the variability of vegetation productivity in India (Carbon uptake)? Work by Akash Verma and @vikram_chandel_ will give you some answers. Here is the recently accepted work:

@TejasviChauhan Very interesting! This means that unless we generate electricity through renewable means, electric vehicles are more of a problem than a solution to reducing emissions.
