Woke up n checked the WC scores to find Cabo Verde holding tournament favs Argentina 1-1
That’s utterly heroic
From a country of half a million
Football administrators in India should seriously en masse resign in shame
Watch this without brains and you ll enjoy it. Nothing fancy about this movie. Just two handsome dudes making puns and silly jokes. The story was total whacko but I had a good time watching it. I rated Heads of State (2025) 6/10 #IMDb https://t.co/VAhPbSq2v4
3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold has sadly passed away at the age of 47 after a battle with kidney cancer.
"With his beloved wife Jennifer and his family by his side, [Brad] passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in his sleep after his courageous battle with cancer," 3 Doors Down said in a statement.
"Brad's songwriting became a cultural touchstone for a generation, producing some of the most enduring hits of the 2000s, including the band's breakout hit, "Kryptonite," which he wrote in his math class when he was just 15 years old."
"His music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on."
"Above all, he was a devoted husband to Jennifer, and his kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Those closest to him will remember not only his talent, but his warmth, humility, faith, and deep love for his family and friends."
Back in May, Arnold released a video, revealing that he found out he had cancer.
Rest in peace, Brad.
EXPRESSWAY CONCERNS
The truck accident on the Mumbai-Pune #expressway on Tuesday evening, which leaked propylene gas and caused a major 32-hour shutdown of India's busiest expressway by traffic volume and daily revenues, is a major indictment of India’s civil defence and emergency preparedness.
That no one perished in the accident or the 32 hours that followed is a blessing from above.
The tanker was finally removed from the expressway last night at 8 PM, and traffic has still not returned to normal this morning. (Thursday 5th Feb 10am)
That it could take 36 hours or more to bring this chemical spill under control shows that in the case of a "26-11 Mumbai" type of attack, lakhs of Indians stuck on the roads and in these strategic installations could have perished. (See Image depicting installations)
This expressway connects India’s richest economic corridor and has some of India’s most strategic assets. I am not even considering the thousands of crores in fuel, lost productivity or passenger inconvenience that we went through.
The question that must be asked is, did the government fail in its disaster management plan? Or was there none? Why was there no effort by the Central or state government to call in the Corps of Army Engineers? or position fire brigades, ambulances etc ?
As a Mumbaikar who lived through that horror of 26/11 and the 26/7 deluge, and has seen other terror attacks & civil disturbances across India, the traffic jams and the chaos of the last 24/36 hours have only brought home to roost how unprepared India is for civil disasters if they occur, a la Bhopal, or the 26 July Mumbai deluge, or, God forbid, if another 26/11 were ever to happen.
We live in a dangerous world, and terrorism and natural calamities strike at places we can never be certain of. Imagine a scenario where terrorists cause a toxic spill and block the expressway in this fashion and then attack or sabotage key installations and/or military installations at both ends of the expressway? Imagine how helpless we will be?
There were no alternate routes, no excavation plan, no emergency shutdown, no civil defence measures, no medical protocols, no firefighting preparedness on site, no emergency ambulance facilities; the list is endless.
This is NOT scaremongering; it is only to draw attention to how unprepared we are. I hope this is some food for thought for public planners, strategic architects, bureaucrats and political leaders.
ACT NOW, IT MAY BE TOO LATE THE NEXT TIME.
Jai Hind 🇮🇳🙏

Excellent article. Being associated with a sports family this hit home. Indian sport has a big problem: An unsporting bureaucracy - India Today https://t.co/2gunE2cfL8
I sincerely hope that @DjokerNole gets another Aussie title
As it is he is the GOAT, given that the number of Slams was always the benchmark of tennis success
Just cause he’s Serbian, don’t change the goalposts
PS: you can adore Federer n Nadal; I do as well, but Novak is 👑
Dear @ICC,
It is with a heavy heart that we now announce our unavailability to replace Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Regardless of whether they now withdraw, the short timescales ensure it is impossible for our squad to prepare in the professional manner necessary to compete effectively in this global cricketing spectacle. We are not like Scotland and able to turn up on a whim, with no kit sponsor.
Our players are from all walks of life and cannot simply drop their occupations to fly halfway around the world to experience temperatures only normally felt in Finnish saunas. Our captain, a professional baker, needs to attend to his oven, our ship captain needs to steer his vessel, and our bankers need to go bankrupt (again). This is the harsh reality of cricket at the amateur level of the game.
This news will be extremely disappointing to our fans. Despite being the most peaceful nation on Earth, we maintain an army of online followers, and are the world's 14th most followed national board on X. We were ready to give the Dutch the biggest shock they have experienced since William of Orange lost the Battle of Landen in 1693. And the Americans were looking forward to taking on Greenland, or so their orange-dyed leader thought.
Our loss is likely Uganda's gain. We wish them well. Their kits cannot be missed unless you have epilepsy, in which case they are probably best avoided.
The future is always ice, until it isn't.
Yours sincerely,
Icelandic Cricket Association
This can’t be as simple an explanation as saying future design scope is what is at play. The contractor seems to have cut corners to save on structural steel and paving. Possibly some saving on the design aspect too. Clearly safety and design sense was not part of the planning.
I have been in the bridge making field for over 14 years now. I have not seen a marvel like this. This design and MMRDA’s explanation makes no sense at all. The substructure design doesn’t seem to accommodate future superstructure work. Moreover, how is this even safe?
A 4-lane flyover in Mira-Bhayandar suddenly narrows into just 2 lanes.
MMRDA says this is due to space constraints and future planning.
If space was the issue, a long merging ramp could have been provided instead of an abrupt 4-to-2 lane reduction. But in India, creating “modern engineering marvels” clearly takes priority over commuter safety.
Hats off! And if anyone meets with an accident here, please don’t complain, just remember, it was all for space constraints and future planning.
What did they mean when they said in the future it would be extended. You can clearly see the space left to build the second lane ramp on the bridge. (Yellow highlights) The would have had to trim some of trees and get some ROW in order to make it.
This design is as absurd as the flyover in Nagpur that had a 1 1/2 lanes on each side. Best of luck overtaking on it. Then on top of it, the flyover had an exit ramp at 90 degree angle 😂. I thought nothing could beat that until now.
Have been using grok for the past few days and I must say it is really impressive. Feedback is quick and it provides way more depth in terms of response compared chatgpt or gemini.
The contractor has probably earned more profit on this one project than most honest citizens will save in their entire life. And with these profits he will continue to stay in business even if the road crumbles or if there are major accidents. And it's all part of our famous GDP.
