People who want to appear moral are attracted to the left.
People who want to appear rational are attracted to the right.
Effective Altruism lets you appear rational and moral - the ultimate ego trip.
The older I get, the more I realize adaptability is the highest form of intelligence. Knowledge matters, but the ability to learn, unlearn, and change course matters more. The rigid cling to what was. The adaptable adjust to what is and what will be. The future belongs to them.
I’m starting to believe that there is no simulation. There is no creator of any kind. Existence has its own energy. It’s completely self-contained. It’s the only thing that is truly self contained, without a start or an end in time or space.
If you believe in simulation theory, or any kind of creator really, what entity created them?
It’s turtles all the way down.
At some point, you have to confront the absurdity of the notion a creator, and realize that the infinite regress doesn’t solve anything - it just postpones the fundamental question. If a creator can exist without being created, why can’t existence itself have that same property?
Existence has always been here, self-sufficient and uncaused.
Existence is the ONLY thing that needs no explanation beyond itself. Existence simply IS, with its own intrinsic properties and energy, requiring nothing external to sustain it or provide a purpose for it.
And id you believe in a creator, you likely are implicitly accepting that this applies to thr creator instead of existence itself.
Elon Musk puts it simply: “You are your brain.” Not your heart, not your body—your brain. That lump of neurons is who you are, your entire identity. And the crazy part? Science is only just beginning to figure out what consciousness even is. We don’t know how thoughts turn into awareness. We don’t even know how you know you exist.
With rare exception, ideas really are trivial compared to execution.
For example, the idea of going to the Moon is simple, but ACTUALLY going to the Moon is staggeringly difficult.
Better to live life erring on the side of being optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right!
Be realistic, but, as Monty Python would say, always look on the bright side of life!
We cannot understand the true nature of the Universe, unless we question deeply.
I want to know what is real, even if the answer is total obliteration of my consciousness.
