🔸 The Lyon winger was the subject of late interest from Andrea Berta and Arsenal yesterday but they opted not to pay the £30M asking price.

🔸 Sunderland swooped in today and agreed a package of £30M, with Fofana set to sign a 5-year contract. A medical was booked.

🔸 Crystal Palace then gazumped Sunderland's fee and offered £33.5M - this bid was accepted by Lyon.

🔸 The player and his team had two private jets booked - one to London, one to Newcastle (near Sunderland).

🔸 Fofana opted to fly to London instead of the North of England to complete the move to Palace.

🔸 Sunderland then matched Crystal Palace's bid and offered a better commission to Fofana's agents - which the player and his representatives gladly accepted.

🔸 Crystal Palace were left in the dark regarding the player’s whereabouts as he boarded a flight from Lyon to the North East to complete the transfer.

🔸 Fofana will join Sunderland for a total package of £33.5M and his agents are getting a fat pay cheque.
