That economists have had to spend so much time and energy explaining the egregious conceptual errors behind the bogus 2.6% claim is deeply unfortunate.

At a minimum, the @ndtv reporter should have immediately questioned the guest on the basic conceptual error.

I’m sorry, but I’ll say this bluntly to @ndtv and every other media channel covering the economy, including @ETNOWlive, @TimesNow and others:

Journalism does not require journalists to agree with economists. But it does require them to know enough to recognise when basic arithmetic and economic concepts are being mangled on national television.
