@sujathadesikan I fully support this. Cellphones are the bane of temple visits. Everyone crowding the darshan with their phones showing to someone who is not the least interested in the darshan!
Someone shared this on SM, mocking our priests. They have every right to, freedom of speech... :((
But here is the irony nobody posting it seems to have caught: the joke is actually on them.
Because the priest in that cartoon is not breaking his own rule to shame someone else. He is doing exactly what he is required to do, standing at that same doorway, held to a stricter version of the same standard, chest bare, in nothing but a plain unstitched cloth, before he is even allowed near the sanctum himself.
The cartoon needs you to assume hypocrisy to land...
The actual rule is the opposite of hypocrisy, it is the same standard, applied to him first, harder.
The rule long predates any modern idea of "modesty." In Vedic and Āgamic ritual practice, worship is done in avastra form, unstitched garments only: dhotī, uttarīya (a single length of cloth over the shoulder), no needle, no seam, anywhere on the body during the ritual.
This applies to priests performing pūjā and, in many temples, to devotees entering the garbhagṛha itself, never gender-specific / class-specific in origin.
It is a ritual-state requirement, not a dress code for appearance's sake.
Traditional ritual purity (śuddhi) standards treat a stitched garment as harder to fully purify, a seam traps oil, sweat, dust in a way a single flat cloth, boiled and sun dried, does not.
In a tropical climate, across hours long rituals involving direct physical contact with the mūrti, abhiṣeka, ārati, garlanding, a sweat soaked stitched shirt brushing against the deity during worship is exactly the contact the rule exists to prevent.
It is the same logic as a surgeon scrubbing in before touching a patient, direct, close contact demands a higher, verifiable standard of cleanliness than everyday clothing can guarantee.
The priest dresses like the one he serves, not like the audience watching him.
Walk into almost any Śiva / Viṣṇu temple and look at the mūrti itself: bare-chested, adorned only with ornaments and a draped uttarīya, never in a stitched garment.
The priest is simply matching the form of what he is approaching.
A silk shirt and a torn one look identical the moment both are removed. Bare chested, dhotī clad, a wealthy man and a poor man are visually indistinguishable at the threshold of the sanctum.
Rank stopped being legible right at that door.
It is the same instruction Krishna gives in the Gītā itself:
vidyā-vinaya-sampanne brāhmaṇe gavi hastini I
śuni caiva śvapāke ca paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ II
"By viewing a learned brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and an outcaste with an equal eye, true wisdom transcends superficial material distinctions like species, social status, or birth."
Honestly, the man in that cartoon is not demanding something of others that he is not already demanding of himself, first, in a harder form.
The mockery mistook a shared rule for a double standard and that mistake is the whole joke, just aimed the wrong way. 🙏🙏

You can call it a conspiracy, but I am sure 80% of so-called science we are told is fake. Pareto principle applies here too.
Especially, the so called science they tell us in anthropology, geology, archeology, paleontology, and nutrition is 80% nonsense as a rule of thumb.
Nobody knows a damn thing 100%. They know 20% and extrapolate the remaining 80% and institutionally get together to make you believe it is true.
Here's an example:
He says, "80,000 years ago only 8000 humans survived due to some virus."
How did they exactly humans count all over the world who lived 80k years ago? They don't even know for sure where all humans lived then.
100,000 years ago Humans were living in many corners of India. We have caves and tools they left behind to prove this.
And all these humans somehow got a virus and died of a pandemic 80,000 years ago? Like how? There were no planes taking them around or CCP run WHO & Fauci.
This is what happens when you can't accept some credible theories like a small population from India migrated out to make up populations in Europe.
Or that humans were civilized, sailing the world, and writing their itihasas more than 10,000 years ago. You need to create some silly theories to accommodate genetic data.

This is Rafiq Hussain Bhattuk. He was a leader in Godhra, owned two petrol pumps, and it was he who arranged the petrol used to burn the Sabarmati train. He remained absconding for 14 years. The Gujarat Intelligence Bureau had kept his relatives and family members under surveillance, with all their phones being monitored. One day, he called his son because he had become a grandfather. The surveillance traced his location to Delhi. He then told his son that he would secretly come to Godhra on a certain date because he wanted to see his grandson.
The police decided it would be better to let him come to Godhra rather than arrest him in Delhi. He arrived in Godhra, where police officers in plain clothes were stationed at the railway station and arrested him.
Yesterday, all of his crimes were proven in court, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Remember when Lalu Yadav used to say that the fire on the Sabarmati Express in Godhra had started on its own and that no one had set it? After confessing everything, he told the police that he had spent those 14 years living in Lajpat Rai Market in Old Delhi.
Just think about how vast the ecosystem of these religious terrorists is. Did any journalist report this news?
“India First.”
My cook plays the Gayatri Mantra every day when he enters my kitchen, and I listen to it every day and like it.
But my question is: Why was the Gayatri Mantra played at an IIT convocation? It wasn’t a religious event. Our educational spaces should be free from religious slogans and chants of all religions
Here is the entire Parasurama series playlist... can be played like a Web series. We are very proud of this work and having spent countless hours doing this, it would really make us feel good if you watch all episodes, comment & share! @RudraVS@Swamy39

A sight 👁️ which probably we see nowhere in the world 🌎 So many people together in a temple doing 71st continuous #SamashtiSandhyavandanam (Group Sandhya) which our Veda Ghosham students do each Saturday in Coimbatore.
A sight 👀 to behold and be proud of. Every nook and corner we have Pravacahans, Bhajans etc but seeing people doing Sandhyavandanam together in one place that too in a temple 🛕 is something unique to Veda Ghosham. We have initiated this so that the people who come to temple skipping their Nitya Sandhya at home get reminded of their duty. Also we get immense punya by doing Gayatri japa in temple. How many people skip their Nityakarma when they go out ? Many....🛵
Veda Ghosham has transformed so many lives. Every Veda Ghosham student carries Sandhya vessels with him & does Sandhya 🌞whenever he goes. Kudos to the Coimbatore Veda Ghosham team who are steadily building a Sandhya Upasaka base in Coimbatore. Delhi VG team is also picking up. Want to join us 👇🏼 speak to
