@Val_Mueller_ASU From a grad student perspective: it's helpful to have some prompts to focus on when we have to read a paper (topic, methods innovation, framing, policy takeaways). If there is nothing specific to focus on, I just skim and often forget everything else besides the main point.

A lesson my advisor tried to give me that I wasn't ready to hear in grad school: Stop feeling honored that people ask you to do extra labor.

I am fully aware of this scam now. Encouraging others to learn this early.

@EmilyNix100 I worked as an RA for 3 years before grad school, am in third year now, and 95% of codes are for data cleaning. I ran most regressions for problem sets... I think grad students read the data appendix! (At least I do)

@dhsandler Would you like to see it from the parents' perspective (how much they have to spend) or from the providers'? NIEER yearbooks have state UPK per child expenditure ($ per child enrolled in pre-K). I can share excel sheets of NIEER data. CEX has child care spending
