So Reed Hastings is leaving $NFLX .... and June, damn. Just in time for🍹season here in NYC, so I totally understand the rush...
Look, the topline news is that this is a Big Deal™ and honestly, based on what Sam @ https://t.co/RnUofQ6bbv helped figure out it kind of is. Historically in the first 30d of things like this you see a 3-10% stock decline on announcement, and 1-3 of months of volatility..
Then check out what happens on the longer horizon:
Most major tech companies OUTPERFORMED after the founder(s) exit.
Why? Founders often leave when company is mature and institutionalized. Professional managers (Cook, Nadella, Jassy) focus on execution, profitability, and shareholder returns vs the founder's vision-driven risk-taking.
I think @netflix has a centralized attention economy dynamic around a re-bundling media cycle/pendulum, so this seems like a buy the dip moment..

@russell_m@GavinSBaker That is another reason he may just be talking his book. As has been noted there is a long list of self serving prognostications by Elon that don't come true as well.
@IvanaSpear Great points but didn’t you say the below in Feb? Also am I reading correctly that your ETF is down 28 pct YTD?
2. Demand for H20 is through the roof as Tencent, Alibaba and Bytdance expand AI adoption.
@CliffordAsness Great thread Cliff, it looks like the “plan” may have been to try and kindle negotiations. Or that may not have been the plan till the market forced it. Should be an interesting week…
More than 50 countries are now negotiating with the WH
This has been their consistent message across the morning shows for every administration spokesperson🤔
@SpencerHakimian@NBTFTW Did you see Kevin Hassett say that 50 countries have reached out to negotiate? This may be posturing and just (extremely poor) negotiating
