Everyone is comparing the $30 trillion to US GDP. Here is the comparison nobody is making.

Anthropic's own target for 2030 is close to $200 billion in annual sales. Against the $30 trillion it is pitching, that is 0.7%. The current run-rate, $65 billion at the end of July, is 0.2%.

The company is not forecasting that it wins this market. It is describing a room big enough that a rounding error inside it still looks enormous.

Both numbers come from Anthropic. Only one of them made the headline.
