Toccata covenants went live on Kaspa mainnet today and ~1,400 DAA after activation (a couple of minutes in) we put a Quine on it. 🧬

Self-replicating code, living on an L1.

A quine is a program whose only output is a copy of itself. This one's a covenant: every spend is forced to recreate the exact same covenant in its next output, or the chain rejects it. It literally can't do anything but reproduce. Toccata represents an incredible achievement by all Kaspa Devs.

Rehearsed on testnet, then broadcast and verified on mainnet same covenant ID at every generation, confirmed on-chain. Sitting at gen 3 now, with ~96 self-copies of runway left in 1 KAS.
