Electrons have a property called spin, which is a bit like an intrinsic form of angular momentum. Despite the name, electrons don't actually spin around their axes like planets. Instead, spin is a quantum mechanical property that doesn't have a direct analogy in classical physics. Interestingly, the spin of an electron can only take one of two possible values, which are typically described as "up" or "down." This quantization of electron spin is fundamental to many aspects of quantum mechanics and is crucial for technologies like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and quantum computing.
