Robins' piece makes me ponder the idea of credibility. Who should be allowed to decide/regulate if something is credible or not, especially in news? The government could do it, but then that opens up its own can of worms #FakeNewsAlways#RegulateFreePress? #Comm106
@Pohl_Geneva @w_cjordan So I wonder what is more believe a photo or a broadcast? Since one is a picture, while the other is actually being told. #Curious#Comm106
I feel like it's easier to make someone believe something if they were to hear about it compared to if they were to see it. That's probably why the broadcast in Schwartz's reading was so effective. #Comm106
@Shenise_D Same. I particularly like how the concepts of dialogue and dissemination seem to spill over to broadcasting. What have you liked so far? #comm106
The stories in these readings are only believable since they contain some form of factual information whether it was about the setting, objects, or people. By doing so, it makes it easier for listeners/readers to believe in what they are hearing or reading. #FakeNews#Comm106
@junpei_taguchi @junpei_taguchi I agree. He even mentions how there are short comings of telepathy, which is considered the only way for "perfect" communication. #comm106
Ewen's reading reminds me of the phrase "A picture can tell a thousands words". The FSA and RA were able to use black and white pictures of the impoverished to illicit empathy from viewers. #Comm106
βThe looseness of personal identification of the telephoneβs eeriness I still think applies today since people can still call on *9, which blurs their number/caller ID" #Creepy#Creeping101#Comm106
@minhtopotato I don't think interactions are as important anymore as long as the listener is able to receive/ understand the message. #Comm106#Podcasts
Landsberg point on how cinema/ film makes us empathizes with characters that are not like us is a good point. I remember watching this scene and I empathized hard with pikachu. #SaddestSceneEver#MyGuyAshDead#Comm106
@AulicinoSophia I think the shift also has to do with society's expectations of equality based on gender and race. For example, it would have been surprising to see Black Panther decades ago because films with a mostly black cast wasn't common. The same can be said about women. #Comm106
Benjamin mentions how people quickly become ready to judge film/art rather than to get lost in it due to mechanical reproduction. This reminds me of people leaving a movie and saying, "That was good, but that scene was unrealistic"

I find it funny and true how Miller stated, " everybody watches TV, but no one likes it." This sentiment is probably why Hulu and Netflix has been able to so well. #ViewersHaveAChoice#LessCommericials#Comm106
