noticing more companies are leaning heavily into community but it comes at a tension with how field marketing traditionally runs
the two are not the same and I think the winner will know how to close this lil gap I visualized into a barbell graph
(tops down vs bottoms up marketing)
aight the best Felix Roasting Co in Manhattan is actually hidden inside a hotel in West Village
- huge outdoor patio
- strong hotel wifi
- plush velvet seats
- boutique luxury interior with a modern Italian style
what more can a gorl ask for
wrote about what inspired me to host founders and investors at Bergdorf Goodman
I view hosting events as an artistic craft. Gotta do everything in a first class way and take inspiration from “the greats” that operate outside of tech
recent dishes I’ve made at home for dinner parties👩🏻🍳
looking for a VC/founder interested in cohosting a private dinner
but instead of booking a restaurant I’ll be the one cooking a 3-course Michelin inspired meal at home
must have a nice kitchen
must enjoy eating good food
would personally try to get into these rooms this month in ny btw:
7/14 @spc x @ramp design demo night (stacked panel with anthropic, hebbia, browserbase, and clay)
7/15 @modal private dinner (iykyk)
7/16 @corgi x @genintuition game night (cute hosts)
7/21 @datadog x @googledeepmind late-night cafe compute (has a barista bar)
7/23 @thecollectiv3e x @elevenlabs x @stanleybystan game night (cool ppl)
7/24 @andruyeung x @rhobusiness founder physical strength training class (y'all could use this one)
there is a strong distinction between field marketing and community that not everyone fully understands.
field:
- goes hand in hand with demand generation / sales / ABM
- measured by pipeline influenced, sourced deals, closed-won revenue
- there is a cost per opportunity associated with each event
community:
- primary intention should be done out of goodwill
- value naturally compounds over time and is never short term
- I would couple community with brand equity as well - how do you "show up" in the broader ecosystem or certain environments
the metrics for community building is inherently fuzzier than field events.
community will always be a luxury that everyone may want, but not everyone can nor should afford to have.

There is a hidden speakeasy-style bar inside the men's department store at @Bergdorfs called the Goodman's Bar.
It's moody, sophisticated, and styled as a chic Parisian brasserie. The cocktail menu is carefully curated by Master Sommelier @dustinwilsonms.
I'll be a hosting a private VIP Whiskey Tasting here on June 2nd during @Techweek_ for top founders and investors in my private network.
You'll experience an upscale drink menu (the signature Goodman’s Manhattan), and get an insider look into one of New York's most timeless bars. Conceptualized by the luxury brand's very own design team.
DM or comment for an invite! Only 3 spots remaining.
me want this.
simply a matter of time before a majority of consumers have some form of wearables embedded into their everyday lifestyle.
big question rn though is whether wearable tech can be personalized/stylish enough for ppl to actually want to wear it outside without looking like an idiot
