The story ends up so heavily revolving around Qifrey and Olruggio’s dynamics both individually and separately in so many ways- from parallels- even as far back as the first few chapters of the series. I’m just saying with no spoilers, I don’t know if I’m calling my bro pet names.
@sekretroom@Kekero63@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 At the very least, Agott’s monologue about the scalewolves/Coco before the 2nd test. There’s plenty more in s1 that is clear in retrospect when you watch after catching up with the manga (IE snugstones, Qifrey’s spell of choice in the intro, Olruggio as a whole tbh, cut scenes)
@sekretroom@Kekero63@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 I do agree that the ending point killed some of the hype, but it got a LOT of people to read the manga. It’s been going on for over a decade. I also don’t think the diversity caused low popularity- in fact, I’ve seen it quoted more as a reason WHY people are interested in it.
@Kekero63@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 Galga’s already in the anime you dumb fuck 💀 The anime was starting to get to the queer storyline/character development implications for other characters, too, at the point where it left off at. The manga is the same damn story- it still fucking counts ya dunce.
@sekretroom@Kekero63@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 galga quite literally is in an episode???? atwert doesn’t show up till silver eve tho. Shirahama’s also pretty blatantly writing Qifrey, Olruggio, and Agott as queer. Do gay characters need to break the fourth wall and be like “hello i am gay” for y’all to actually recognize it??
Can we finally have the conversation on how lots of manga actually do spew progressive values, and that racist white dudes in the western world just ignore it for their agenda posting on how “Japan isn’t woke” or whatever the fuck
it’s like vitriolic levels of racism and homophobia from them 😭 man wtf nobody of any worth is gonna wanna watch it and associate with you if you’re calling people slurs online for enjoying witch hat or dunmeshi 💀 i hope alt-right anime larpers explode instantly
i wanna watch frieren so bad but 95% of the time I’m seeing people compare it to other fantasy animangas, it’s like seeing a ku klux klan meeting in a comment section.
@Nozarashi221@shakunetsu_bon@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 It shouldn’t take Qifrey breaking the 4th wall and narrating his every thought for you to pick up on what Shirahama intends. It’s implied for a reason, and is such an integral part of both his character and the ENTIRE PLOT, especially after chapter 89. Media literacy crisis…
@Nozarashi221@shakunetsu_bon@Stuhlinger96@LazarusCrystalz@SHIRO_116 There’s a relationship in the story that parallels the silverwood x witch love story, uses pet names/terms of endearment to one another in spinoff & canon, one’s fate relies on the other, live together, tassel swap, etc. If it was heterosexual, you wouldn’t be saying “friendship”
@CoconutJewce@doingreps1@LazarusCrystalz Yeah- that part is around the Silver Eve arc, but it has major story implications. There’s also blatantly queer relationship dynamics between major characters throughout the manga that aren’t explicitly stated- but if the pairings were m/f, people wouldn’t be denying.
