SINGAPORE AIRLINES – LOYALTY GOES BOTH WAYS?
I am an Indian cardiac anaesthetist working in Sri Lanka. I was invited to speak at a prestigious international cardiac conference in Osaka, Japan.
I completed online check-in 24 hours before my Singapore Airlines flight from Colombo. At the airport, I was suddenly denied a boarding pass. I was told only that “Singapore Immigration” had instructed them not to issue it—but no reason was ever given.
I was left stranded, with no accommodation, no alternate flight, and no assistance. To reach the conference and honour my commitment, I had to purchase an expensive last-minute ticket on another airline.
While I was in Japan, Singapore Airlines also cancelled my return ticket because I had missed the outbound flight—forcing me to buy yet another one-way ticket home.
After my complaint, the General Manager of Singapore Airlines in Colombo confirmed in writing that the boarding pass was not issued due to an error by Singapore Airlines.
Despite admitting the mistake, Singapore Airlines has refused to fully reimburse my additional travel expenses or provide appropriate compensation.
If an airline can deny boarding without explanation, admit its own error later, and still refuse to make the passenger whole, what protection do travellers really have?
Please share this post if you believe airlines should be held accountable.

@SingaporeAir Thank you for your response. I have been in touch with Mr. Terrence in colombo, but unfortunately wading me off with some Kris miles is not equivalent to the amount of humiliation I faced due to the mistake of your employee !!

Respected sir, I came across your recent speech in which you emphasised that slowness is the hurdle for growth. Slowness is the hallmark of our judiciary.Because of judicial delay I suffered a lot. Are there any reforms for changing the present scenario ?
