The 5-day training of Facility-Based and Community-Based Adolescent Peer Educators kicked off today at Kaabong District Headquarters under the #SAYPlusProject, equipping young people as champions and advocates for Adolescent & Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH), HIV prevention, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response.
Implemented by Straight Talk Foundation (STF) in Kaabong and Karenga districts, the project is funded by UNFPA. The training is being conducted by the Ministry of Health, strengthening the capacity of peer educators to support adolescents with accurate information, referrals, and life-saving services across Karamoja.

Another key activity is underway under the #SAYPlusProject.
The STF team is conducting participatory school situation assessments in project-supported schools across Kaabong and Karenga districts to better understand the SRHR realities affecting adolescents.
Through discussions with learners, head teachers, and education stakeholders, the team is identifying gaps, opportunities, and strengthening sustainable partnerships to inform responsive interventions that improve adolescents' access to accurate, age-appropriate SRHR information and services.
Together, we're laying the foundation for evidence-based, youth-responsive programming that leaves no adolescent behind.

Menstrual health, an important SRHR issue, requires support that goes beyond pad distribution. Through games, open conversations, and interactive learning, young people can access accurate information and address stigma and misconceptions around menstruation.

#UNFPA joins the @Mglsd_UG & partners to launch the National Guidelines on Health Education & Life Skills for Out-of-School Adolescents & Youth. A bold step toward empowering young people with knowledge, skills, & opportunities. Let’s invest, scale, and reach every #YoungPerson.
#DidYouKnow?
73.2% of Uganda’s population is under 30, yet many out-of-school adolescents & youth lack access to structured health education and life skills. The new Out of School Adolescent & Youth guidelines aim to bridge this gap & unlock Uganda’s #DemographicDividend.
