@Spearhead_Af Bullshit. You give zero insight into how the EU and other entities prevent Africa from trading with itself TODAY as if African states have no agency at all.
It's frankly embarrassing harking back to the 1800s, blaming colonialism for today's pan-African trade failures. Do better!
@Sroneous@EaracheEye@ChrisMurphyCT Oh! “assisting its ally” was it..? Let’s all go home after that killer assessment!
How ridiculous do you sound?
Since when did “I was only helping out a mate” absolve you from being an accessory to the illegal removal of a sovereign leader? Venezuela - a walk in the park eh?
@newstart_2024@Glinner If you can decouple intellectual disagreement from the possibility of physical violence as a consequence of that intellectual disagreement, then be my guest.
I’d be all for “physical safe spaces” that don’t preclude the possibility expressing or grappling with different views.
@legallois@implausibleblog And that’s exactly how the politicians of the land want it…
What? You think they want critical thinking to suddenly break out all over the place..?
@Xxan_dixx What does “colonial mentality”even mean? Why do Nigerians accept less than bare minimum from successive governments? Never demand accountability? Do little to change their nation’s circumstances? What’s colonialism to do with blaming evil spirits & voting for the highest briber?
@Xxan_dixx I wasn’t actually asking for religion’s “removal”… merely for acknowledgement of its failings and the over reliance on it to paper over the cracks of societal inadequacy…It doesn’t get a pass because of proximity to some deity or other…
@Xxan_dixx It’s far too ingrained in our societies to be “removed”. And are we talking about ALL religions or just the imported ones..? They all stifle human potential and responsibility for our own lives and actions.
@Xxan_dixx Look, I’ll be the first to admit that religion has occasionally delivered some good: refuge and ready-made community; speaking truth to power (although less so these neoliberal days). But I wouldn’t go as far as to say these byproducts exonerate it from the ills it perpetrates.
