here's what will happen.
- u16 ban passes, platforms must verify all ages
- kids use VPNs, government bans VPNs
- age verification infrastructure already exists, its scope gets broader, more invasive, more extreme
- Online Safety Act forces backdoors into encrypted messaging, E2E encryption dies, gov can read everything you ever send
- CBDC rolls out, your internet passport and financial passport become the same document
- anonymous accounts posting "wrongthink" are now identifiable + prosecutable
- the generation that grows up with this doesn't remember it being any other way
- George Orwell was right about everything
- it's over
Stress is great for brute-forcing mindless tasks, but it absolutely destroys your ability to think spatially. It destroys your creativity, which is the one thing that will give you a competitive advantage over everyone optimizing for productivity.
🇰🇪🇺🇸 | Kenyan police shot dead a protester as hundreds demonstrated against a US quarantine facility in Nanyuki.
The facility is for US nationals exposed to Ebola. Not for Kenyans.
The protester was shot in the head and at least 19 people were arrested, according to Reuters, at the site where the US is building a 50-bed unit at Laikipia Air Base.
Kenya has no Ebola case of its own; the unit would hold US nationals exposed to the virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. It runs on roughly KSh 1.68 billion — about USD 13 million in US aid.
This is not the first killing: on 1 June police shot two protesters dead and arrested 31. Demonstrators call their country a "dumping ground" and have vowed to march until the plan is scrapped.
Washington says it "cannot and will not allow" any cases to enter US territory. Kenyan President William Ruto calls the deal "mutually beneficial" — while his own police keep killing the Kenyans who refuse it.
I asked my wife if she wanted to grab a coffee.
She said, “Sure, how about 10 tomorrow?”
Ten coffees in one day seemed a little excessive…
So I canceled the plans.
So I had a colonoscopy today, and had a lovely back-and-forth with one of the nurses
Nurse: Hi, I'm Myrtle the Magnificent.
Me: Wait, what? Like a magician or something?
Nurse: That's right!
Me: And for your first trick... You're gonna make the scope disappear, aren't you?
Nurse: Exactly! But do you know where it's gonna disappear to?!
Me: Is it my butt?
Nurse: It's your butt!
Me: I don't like this trick.
Nurse: No one likes this trick.
⚠️ Let's Encrypt Halts Certificate Issuance After Cross-Signed Root Certificate Incident
Source: https://t.co/UyHDVTTZPm
Let's Encrypt temporarily suspended all certificate issuance on May 8, 2026, after engineers identified a critical issue involving a cross-signed certificate linking the organization's Generation X root to its upcoming Generation Y root infrastructure.
The incident triggered a complete shutdown of issuance across both production and staging environments before services were restored within hours. At 18:37 UTC on May 8, Let's Encrypt engineers became aware of a potential incident and immediately halted all certificate issuance as a precautionary measure.
