@LincolnRestler This key north/south bike connection is always blocked and clogged with trucks and speeding personal vehicles. @ericadamsfornyc@NYCMayor how are your policies making the city safer?
@BrianLehrer@Julcuba@_charleslane@WNYC The City has been caught flat-footed and is not building adequate, safe, and appropriate infrastructure that supports booming alternative modes of transportation. In the end, #CarsRuinCities, not bikes.
@BrianLehrer@Julcuba@_charleslane@WNYC ...And pedal-assist bikes with speed governors can open a world of mobility for many New Yorkers. But everyone is competing for scarce transit infrastructure resources and the inevitable result is conflict...
@KendraWrites @JessieSingerNYC *Classon and Lexington in Clinton Hill where traffic frequently backs up and drivers are way too impatient. But a Fiat, still.
Ignore any initial statements made by the NYPD crash investigation squad. It's likely the cyclist was riding on the right side of the lane when a semi truck driver killed them while attempting to pass.
@NYPD88Pct why are you blocking the bike lane right outside your building on Classon and Dekalb?
@bikenewyork @BrooklynSpoke this looks pretty intentional with the barricade, no?
This is a design problem, not a driver problem, and considering that a vehicular terror attack that killed 8 people in New York City started this way, it is shocking that there are @NYC_DOT@MTA segregated biking and walking paths where this is still possible.
