Great info, I'm going to layer on some more around supporting mast cells/MCAS.

Anti-histamines only partially work in MCAS. In food allergies, IgE cross-linking is the trigger. In MCAS, the IgE is optional and only reflects one pathway of degranulation.

This is because mast cells can be activated by:
- Microbial fragments (LPS, beta-glucans)
- Allergens/antigens/histamines from food (fermented foods, nut proteins, certain milk/egg proteins)
- Stress hormones (CRH)
- Estrogen/estradiol (primarily via ER-alpha)
- Hypoxia (HIF-1a)
- Mold/mycotoxins
- Sunlight, temperature, pressure, scratching, etc.
- Osmotic shifts
- Neurotransmitters (glutamate, substance P)
- Complement (C3a, C5a)
- Oxidative/nitrosative stress
- Artificial blue light/nnEMFs

Instead of a single massive release, MCAS looks like:

- More leukotrienes + prostaglandins rather than histamine itself

Gut health is huge here, as 70% of your immune system sits behind it (GALT), and your mast cells are being programmed here locally. This occurs in both allergies and MCAS.

MCAS should be thought of in sequences, you essentially want to attack MCAS from ALL angles:

- Lactoferrin: binds LPS to reduce TLR4 priming, lowers immune overactivation, regulates iron, and shifts the IgE / TH2 terrain upstream.

- Vitamin C: lowers circulating histamine, buffers ROS that prime mast cells, recycles vitamin E, and supports adrenal steroidogenesis during repeated stress flares.

- Quercetin / Luteolin / Apigenin – provide natural H1 antagonism, inhibit calcium influx required for degranulation, stabilize mast cells, with luteolin also has added CNS and neuroinflammation benefits.
