@WarDamnGoose@EvanWritesOnX Illegal immigrants are low-skilled and have lower education than the average citizen. They're only qualified to do cheap labor that the majority of citizens don't think pay enough to live. For employers, they're the solution to jobs that would otherwise go unfilled.
@ascetic_tweeter@mitchellh I do know that Mitchell Hashimoto has made significant contributions to the tech industry. He expressed worry at lessons having to be relearned because people are caught up in the hype and have AI blinders on, some of whom are his friends.
@ascetic_tweeter@mitchellh My next comment will be my last because I think I'm speaking way to much about personal relationships that have nothing to do with me.
@ascetic_tweeter@mitchellh Interesting that you think that I'm defending him or that he needs to tell you the name of his friends to actually be speaking up about this. And yes, Wise is my actual last name. You must also think I'm criticizing your response. If it came off that way, I apologize.
@ascetic_tweeter@mitchellh Your questioning the respect between him and his friends is confusing. Are you saying he doesn't really respect his friends - or possibly, the opposite? I don't see the link between his response (I tried, they won't listen) and your follow up response.
@ascetic_tweeter@mitchellh He said he spoke with his friends. They disagreed there's anything to be concerned about. Still thinking it's a concern worth sharing, he's tweeted it without revealing their names. What's the problem, exactly?
Rob and Lisa are facing a tough situation with their rent. They're taking action to keep their roof over the heads, so if you can, consider donating or sharing their story to help them keep their home during this difficult time:

@r0ck3t23 I doubt every company needs to jump off the AI cliff. Every company doesn't require the next new thing and many small businesses can't afford to succumb to FOMO (companies are STILL running systems on Windows 95!). They won't change based on hype.
@MartinMLynch@devops_nk My understanding is that iterative and incremental development solve for naturally occurring communication issues between domain experts and developers. If you've solved for that, I'd love to know more.
@st0yanov@pvergadia You needn't worry. People are still being laid off, with this being the state of things today. Many are too hyped about the technology to care about this. It's just a hiccup on the journey to replacing all human coders for them.
